Guitars and Bass for @frankiifirefly

POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED

A little snippet of one of my originals called #lastwords for my concert on Saturday at @theellingtonjazzclub feat @jacksonvenables on Guitar.

Captured by my darling friend @burridge.dale 🥰

Last Words is one of those songs that came from a very real place.

A lot of my writing begins that way, with something I’ve lived through, something I’ve carried, something I perhaps didn’t fully understand until I put it into a song.

More recently, I’ve realised that allowing myself to be vulnerable in the writing has opened a gate I kept firmly shut for many, many decades. There’s courage in that, but there’s also freedom.

I’m not interested in telling every detail of every story. Some things still belong to me. But I am interested in telling the emotional truth of them.

That’s where songs like Last Words come from. 🙏🏼💜

PERTH — WHAT A DAY. 💛

To everyone who came along to @theellingtonjazzclub yesterday, I’m so grateful.

We ended up with a fantastic room full of people and had a terrific time. After all the sharing, tagging, messaging and rallying in the lead-up, it was pretty special to look out and see so many faces there.

I tried to get a photo with everyone, but I know I missed a few. If you spot a friend or family member in any of these photos, please tag them in the comments.

And if I missed getting a photo with you, my apologies. I’m so glad you were there.

A huge shout-out to my wonderful guitarist @jacksonvenables , who absolutely played his heart out. What a joy to share the stage with him.

Can’t wait to see you next time, Perth!

And now, Melbourne… I’m looking forward to doing it all again with my brilliant Melbourne guitarist @itsandymcgarvie at the @thejazzlabbennettslane for @mwijf and @thepigandwhistlemainridge in Mornington, Victoria.

Details coming very soon. ❤️

🎉🎶 PERTH, WE’RE ON!!! THE SHOW IS GOING AHEAD! 🎶🎉

Well, what a difference 48 hours can make!! ❤️

I’m absolutely thrilled to announce that my show at The Ellington Jazz Club in Perth this Saturday is GOING AHEAD! 🙌🏼

And I have YOU to thank for it!

To each and every person who shared my posts, tagged a friend, emailed a friend, texted a friend, sent up smoke signals, dispatched a carrier pigeon, performed a rain dance or generally made a nuisance of themselves on my behalf… THANK YOU!!! 😂❤️

I am genuinely blown away by the outpouring of love, kindness and support over the past 48 hours.

It’s moments like these that remind me just how wonderful this community is. You rallied around, spread the word and helped turn something that was looking pretty bleak into something we can now celebrate together.

I am truly, truly grateful. ❤️

And the good news is… THERE ARE STILL TICKETS AVAILABLE! 🎟️

So, if you’ve been thinking about coming along, PLEASE DO! There are still seats available online, and hopefully we’ll have some tickets at the door too.

Now, all that’s left to do is jump on a plane tomorrow, get together with the wonderful Jackson Venables on guitar for a rehearsal, and bring this little show of original music, stories, soul and a bit of musical mischief to life on Saturday!

I CANNOT WAIT!! ❤️🎶

PERTH — I need a little help getting this one over the line. 💛

My show at The Ellington Jazz Club this Saturday 17 October is now very close to being cancelled.

I know a lot of people have expressed interest, shared the post, tagged friends, messaged contacts in Perth and generally gone above and beyond to help me spread the word. I’m genuinely so grateful for that.

But the reality is that interest only becomes a ticket sale once it goes through the box office, and unless we get enough bookings through by tomorrow afternoon, the show will have to be cancelled.

We are very close.

This is an intimate duo show with Jackson Venables on guitar, centred around my original music, stories, soul, jazz, country, rock and all the beautiful space that comes with stripping the songs right back.

After four decades of performing, this is where I want the music to live now: close up, honest, funny, imperfect and connected.

(Gashed myself major on my shin before the shoot. Couldn’t rip off the band aid. Life and art folks!). Them’s the breaks and songs follow - am I right!? #livemusic #originalmusic

Thank you for all the love on “Paint A Good Picture” 🧡 I’m so grateful for everyone who helped bring this track to life!

1 - Alex, Dan & Bridget recording horns

2 - Jamie adding some lead Saxophone

3 - Jackson putting down an absolutely stellar guitar solo

4 - The Tascam 388 glueing together the rhythm section during a mixing session

5 - Alexia sewing the jumpsuit she designed for me to wear in the film clip

6 - A sweet painting of the time I met Lord Čardak when he came to my show in Paris, we’ve remained great friends ever since and he went on to animate the film clip

7 - A shot of the stunning Parque del Retiro in Madrid where we shot the film clip

8 - Matt getting dusty in the name of art, shooting the film clip on a super 8 camera

A long time ago, @jacksonvenables and I used to do this all the time, and it was very good. This Wednesday, we're going to try and be very good, again. Maybe even better. Definitely not worse.

Either way, come hang with us at @tommyshighgate 😎
