WEYMOUTH IRONMAN 70.3 DEBRIEF

Part 1: The Swim 🏊🏼‍♀️🌊

I was an absolute bundle of anxiety going into the swim!!

The weekend hadn’t exactly got off to the best start. We couldn’t stay in our Airbnb so had to book an emergency hotel, which meant no microwave or toaster for my rice and bagels. I’d already been struggling with carb loading so that was LESS than ideal

Thankfully we got SO lucky with the weather on race morning. The sea was unbelievably calm and we couldn’t have asked for better conditions

I’d gone into the race telling myself that the swim was just the warm-up and that I needed to take it easy and save my energy for the bike and run. I was aiming for somewhere between 40–45 minutes, so was really happy to get out of the water in 43:20

The time just flew on race morning, so ended up being pretty much thrown straight into the water without much time to think about what I was actually about to do. Probably a blessing in disguise given how nervous I was!!

Wish I would have studied the race course a bit more to understand how much distance was left, but overall managed not to panic and keep my HR relatively controlled!!

Was kicked less than 5 times so that’s a BIG win x

T-1 DAY TO WEYMOUTH IRONMAN 70.3 !!!

amongst the nerves, anxiety and self doubt, today’s registration brought excitement and self belief ✨

THREE months ago I was a complete beginner at TRIATHLON, we’ve come SOOOO far since then (including purchasing my own bike 7 WEEKS ago 🤪)

beyond proud of the progress, and whatever tomorrow brings, I’ll be happy if this inspires just ONE person to push themselves out of their comfort zone x

we can do hard things 💪🏼💪🏼💪🏼
