📢 OPEN CALL: CPR’s 2027 Artist-in-Residence Program

🗓️Applications due Monday, August 24, 2026 at 5pm EST.

CPR’s year-long Artist-in-Residence (AiR) Program supports NYC-based artists working within various perspectives of contemporary dance, performance, and time-based forms. CPR values experimental approaches to content, form, and aesthetic, and encourages risk-taking and the unexpected.

Six NYC-based artists will be selected for a year-long residency from January to December 2027. AiRs will have opportunities for presentation, community engagement, and creative exchange through CPR’s curated Public Programs, and will receive curatorial support and feedback from CPR staff and fellow artists throughout the year. The program is intended to nurture the individualized creative process, and prioritizes artists for whom the opportunity will make an impact on the growth and evolution of their work and career.

In addition, each AiR receives:

*A $2,000 stipend.

*Advance access to CPR’s rehearsal booking calendar.

*20 free hours of rehearsal space for the residency cycle, and may book up to 150 subsidized rehearsal hours in either of CPR’s studios during the residency year, with priority booking January 2027 through February 2028.

*Additional artist fees and resources for CPR Public Programs, including access to technical equipment and production support.

AiRs will have the chance to present their work publicly through the following programs:

OPEN LAB, in which AiRs facilitate embodied workshops or feedback-generating performances organized around a central research question.

OPEN AiR, in which AiRs share their current practice and research. These programs may take a variety of forms – solo presentations of new work in development, multi-artist programs that offer space for dialogue between artists’ practices, and other formats that are responsive to each artist’s practice and ongoing research.

Visit www.cprnyc.org or link in bio to read the full residency details and guidelines, and please email us at applications@cprnyc.org with any questions!

THANK YOU for riding off into the sunset with us at CPR’s Spring Benefit! We were thrilled to present a jubilant evening exploring the concept of JOYRIDE in its many forms – from journey to destination, from gentle coasting to full speed ahead – to raise critical funds for CPR to support our artists and programming.

Last Tuesday evening, artists, friends, and supporters gathered at CPR’s home in Williamsburg to enjoy whimsical lottery machines, immersive virtual odysseys, little pink convertibles, dreamy odes to skydiving, the many wonders of Wisconsin, Lesley Gore karaoke, inner voyages, spirited tributes to cartoon trains, and queer reclamations of The Big Bang. Thank you to all of the artists and fearless travelers who brought out their most transportive and moving work!

If you weren’t able to join the celebration, we hope you will consider making a tax-deductible donation to help CPR continue to move across the finish line all year long! You can donate via Zeffy at the link in bio.

Thank you for your support, presence, and participation – and cheers to many more JOYRIDES to come!!! 🏎
