My beloved Daddy passed away last night. He was my hero; and always, always the biggest man in the room in my eyes.

Leopold (Leo) Swergold, of Aventura, Florida and Westport, Connecticut, husband of
Jane Ellen Loebelson Swergold, passed away peacefully in his Connecticut home
surrounded by his family on October 13, 2025.

Leo was born in Antwerp, Belgium, in 1940; together with his older brother Nathaniel,
and parents Jacob and Helen Swergold, the family escaped the Nazi regime eventually
finding safety in Havana, Cuba in 1941. Nearly seven years later, they finally made
their way to New York City. Leo would later graduate from Yeshiva, then Columbia
University, and finally from Harvard Business School.

Leo had a long career on Wall Street, opened his own investment bank, Swergold,
Chefitz and Sinsabough, which he later sold to Furman Selz. After his retirement, he
opened his own fund, aptly named Anvers (the name of his birthplace). He had many
passions, one of them being investing, but he was a man who was also passionate
about his wife of nearly 59 years, Jane Ellen Loebelson Swergold. Later in his life, they
embarked on a journey of collecting ancient Chinese Art, and also Cuban Art, while
also sharing a deep passion for Philanthropy.

Leo was a member of countless Boards, numerous synagogues, and felt strongly
about giving back by way of charitable giving, especially to Jewish organizations, since
his own family benefited by the help they received when they arrived in this country.

Leo is survived by his loving wife, Jane, his son Eric Swergold (m. Dawn Dobras), his
daughter Pamela Swergold Binder, his brother Nathaniel Swergold, and his sister Pearl
Amy Sverdlin. His five grandchildren lit up his life: Jacob Swergold, Ethan Swergold,
Macabee Swergold, Henry Binder, and Theodora Binder.

Please reach out for funeral and Shiva details.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests
that donations be made in Leo’s name to the JDC, the American Joint Distribution
Committee (jdc.org).

We spent a gorgeous day today with Rooftop Elementary right in our backyard of Ocean Beach. Heat wave and the stoke machine was on all day! These kids got after it, parents too, and it was just an all time day for all! Thanks to all of our incredible volunteers who came out (even though the waves were actually really fun) and made it such a great day for the kids and their families ❤️❤️❤️
What a rad day! Upcoming surf days:
5/16- Stinson
5/18- Stinson
We need volunteers!!!!
Thanks as always to our sponsors and supporters who make this magic a reality❤️
