Follow us and comment SULLY, and we’ll send you PROJECTIONIST plus a free month of PREVO.

Congratulations to Ryan “Sully” Sullivan and the WIDOW’S BAY sound team, who won the Emmy for sound editing on “What To Expect On Your Trip,” one of the show’s record 14 wins.

Sully has done 70 or 80 short films and is working on one right now. One of them is PROJECTIONIST: 13 minutes, shot on expired Kodak 35mm inside a movie theater open since 1939, about a projectionist dealing homemade psychedelics on a mission to wake the world up.

His favorite sound in it is the projector coming up to speed, the film flapping and then tightening as the motor gets there. He also ran every stem through an analog preamp emulation and a Studer tape emulation to warm it up.

Directed by @thepatmccoy and @nobodyalexandre.

Starring Brent Michal, @piper.viper and @nobodyalexandre. Distributed by @antennareleasing. @kodak_shootfilm

Comment "TRIP" and we'll send you the film. Shot on expired Kodak 35mm, over three nights inside The Plaza Atlanta, an independent cinema running since 1939.

Projectionist is a 13-minute short that excels in every technical regard, starting with its look. The film’s DP, @kaj_dickson happened to be sitting on a stockpile of expired 35mm. And Terance’s opening narration was the first thing directors @thepatmccoy and @nobodyalexandre wrote, before there was a full script.

Comment TRIP below and we’ll send you the film, plus one free month of PREVO.

Making a movie is just wearing shorts and gesturing in increasingly unhinged ways

We shot Projectionist over three consecutive nights inside the dusty bowels of Atlanta’s Plaza Theatre, a landmark so historic that it first opened its doors almost 90 years ago.

I feel like our film is a tiny little part of that history.

(It also at one time showed adult films.)
