As a longtime superfan of Canadian cartoonist @jacobs_comics, I was thrilled to see that he would be featured in the @banzai.editions Legend Collection. Each month, the collection spotlights a single artist with 32 full-colour pages of their work. And it comes with a poster! I have added it to my ever growing collection!

Jacobs strikes a perfect balance between horror and humour. His comics are wildly stylistic. I swear I can almost taste the colours.

Beneath all that visual candy is some seriously sharp social commentary. Jacobs takes on subjects such as the housing crisis, hunting tourism, and climate change. Turning complicated issues into strange unsettling worlds.

Have you read any of these? You can buy them (& support indie bookstores) at the link in my bio.
I present my lists (usually picture books) weekly as part of @studiohoffmann ‘s Gab ‘n’ Doodle show. And I share em here every Monday.

What suggestions/requests do you have for a list?

T Musi Es (2021 / 2025)

The magician takes centre stage and tries to bring things together. He dispenses medicine and spices in a figurative sense. He rambles on about colours, ‘delicious’ and flavour. Beneath him, a small door opens, through which a red sky casts a red shadow. IX. The magician tries to juggle the elements and hypnotise. Perhaps he’s simply had a knock on the head. What is hiding there ?? What is his assistant marvelling at ? Who is falling ? What has been ingested ? Where is the town ? Who are the fruits for ?
First for the two-headed rodent, and then for YOU !!!

Was hält sich versteckt ?? Worüber staunt sein Assistent ? Wer fällt ? Was wurde eingenommen ?
