HOMESICK / NOSTALGIA IS OUT NOW

Available to purchase via DM or through my website (link in bio).

I started this project with no real intention at all. I was simply following my eye towards whatever drew me in during my travels.

It was only after I came home, with some distance from that time, that I began to see a thread running through the images. It was everything that made me feel nostalgic for home - the beautiful, the mundane, the absurd and the ugly. The everyday.

And now, looking back through these photographs, I find myself nostalgic for that time once more.

I made this for me, but I’m so happy to finally share it with you ❤️

Homesick / Nostalgia will be released in three weeks.

51 photographs made over six months travelling through Latin America. A quiet meditation on the beautiful, mundane, absurd and sometimes ugly nature of the everyday - the strange feeling of finding something familiar in unfamiliar places.

We start the review at the much hyped about Faltering Fallback. Jack has been calling it the flattering fallback for weeks so we found it a little difficult locating it, but we forgive him because he’s ’head of digtal’ (dyslexic m**g). Anyway, back to the review, much anticipated pub but went we arrived the security were straight into us, maybe our fame has made its sway around Finsbury park today. A pub with a lot of potential with a mix of different vibes in each room. Went from a solid Irish pub to a sports bar with loads of table to a close knit smoking area with a terrace we had a buzzer for on the waiting list; are we at a food hall?! Murphy’s a good shout on tap but not the same as cork. The security was a bit unnerving but perhaps WARRANTED in Finsbury park. Also it was too BLOODY LOUD with the TVs so much so that JS had a NOTIFICATION on his phone 3.7:/5

THE MARQUESS TAVERN - 3.7.

Look. This place has potential. This place has classic central bar features, a good amount of wood, a nice barmaid. However, we understand there are serious internal politics here (all of the staff are walking out - clearly too much time spent with JEREMY CORBYN!). That might be a reason for there not being many people in this pub, it is absolutely deserted here. Very strange as the building blocks are there.

The rating might be the most hotly contested rating here. JC BIG HATER but GC and JH cancelled him out, very nicely.

The MIDDYLTON ARMS - 3.9/5

George and Joey were very surprised that Jordan was hawkish on this pub as it is technically his local boozer other than the smokehouse which is technically a restaurant.

It’s a good pub. We managed to get seats at the bar. George donated 4pence to the bar staff (a generous tip given the POOR QUALITY of the first photo). The toilets have interesting features - there was a ‘piss wall’ as you can see, JH is not pissing in his Glastonbury toilets in the second photo where he is right at home. Although no stink of ‘ganja’/‘Mary Jane’.

The piss wall gives this pub an extra few points, as it is a proper boozer with some interesting ceramic additions.

I bet you’re reading this and thinking, why 3.9 out of 5? Well… and it’s a big well. Long time followers of the page will recognise that this pub has FAIRY LIGHTS and that IMMEDIATELY knocks .2 off of the total score! @jackshiner_ though he is not here, as he is garbage, would understand this critical point.

As JC pointed out, the windows were stain glass which was a very welcome addition.

THE COMPTON ARMS - 4.03/5. CAN YOU SPOT THE EASTER EGG?

This is a fine pub. Old, a good boozer, it objectively deserves a four, a good amount of barmen in a tight, tight situation. GC’s violent hand tendencies KNOCKED Jordan’s pint right out of his hand! Joey felt safe and secure with all of the long haired north London hippies in leather sheepskin jackets. THE JACKETTTT! I heard JH took that jacket off of Rocky Dimeo out of prison. He wasn’t so tough after that…

There were some excellent windows which GC explained the history at length. It was fascinating but an emotional moment for JC as he cried about his ex for about 1 and a half minutes after said detailed explanation.

The pub would be rated higher however there TOO MANY locals insofar that the locals were young bloody hippies. JH approved.
