The Sound of Music was the first show I saw on Broadway when I was seven years old. I remember people standing up at the end and asking my parents why. They told me it was called a standing ovation.

When I auditioned for this show last year I was not certain it was the right job for me, but it came at very much the perfect time - after a breakup and the knowing that for countless reasons New York City was not a place than I needed or wanted to be. And the joke has been on me - it has been the perfect job for me.

I have belly laughed so much during the past year – the kind of laughter that literally brings you to your knees and reminds you who you are. I have been gifted travel to places where I have gotten to see incredible natural beauty and visited many loved ones whose homes I had never been able to see before this. I have made lifelong soul friends within this incredibly gifted cast and crew. And it’s a beautiful show! Doing an anti-fascism musical in 2025 and 2026 has been joyful activism.

And yet… there has been a small voice that has gotten to be so very loud – a voice inside of me that knows that THIS is the moment to leap off into something new. But how could I leave a job that I genuinely love? I thought people were only supposed to leave jobs if they didn’t like them.

I have read many books about women following a knowing inside of them, even though that knowing did not make sense to them– and I have always wanted to be one of those women who follows that. A person who trusts the universe so deeply, who knows it has her back. And it has gotten to a point where I can no longer ignore that voice, and I must listen.

The travels and experiences I have planned for myself in the coming months are, I can say without a shadow of a doubt, absolutely extraordinary and life changing. For many reasons, without this show it would have been almost impossible to make those happen. How lucky am I that a musical from my childhood has made so many of my dreams now possible?

To be shepherded off into this new era of my life by THIS show and THIS company has to be one of the greatest privileges of my life so far. I could not be more grateful. So long, Farewell❤️
