STORY TIME 🚨🚨🚨

In 2015 while I was studying abroad in Spain, I went to Granada for the weekend with a few guy friends from college. These guys walked so fast I could barely keep up. By day 2 I was over it.

We were touring the Alhambra when I decided to go off on my own, walking for hours until I absolutely had to sit down. It was then that I met one of the greatest loves of my life, and in true pick-me girl fashion deviced a meet cute worthy of an Oscar--or at the very least a Razzie.

Picture me: sitting on a centuries-old wall, close to tears because I have a couple blisters and I'm freezing my ass off. Picture her: Jadeine. 5ft 1in of cinnamon spice, laughing and having a whole photoshoot with two other girls, one of whom I vaguely recognize from my program. After two nights in a hostel with a bunch of dudes, I want in.

I go over and introduce myself. Two minutes later I'm already asking what they are up to that night. They're headed to some Arab baths, they tell me. With 1% battery left on my phone (I don’t know how I'm getting home and I don't care) I invite myself to their plans, call the Spa, and add myself to the reservation.

We go back to Boston best friends, and even though Jadeine always makes me sound a little desperate when she tells this story, she's been my ride or die and part-time lesbian wife ever since.

In two days she leaves for NYC to begin her season 1 of SITC, bringing our 10-year Cali stint to a close.

Meanwhile, I'm looking up Arab baths.
