“It’s Jazz Baby”

Words cannot even express how much this experience changed me! Dancing with the @losangelesjazzcompany with dancers I admire and look up to and directors that have been my idols, was a dream. Thank you @will_thomas9 and @jackiesleight for believing in me and helping me see something inside myself that I have never felt. What a special experience! I’m beyond grateful for every moment, every memory, and every person I had the chance to meet throughout this journey. Getting to perform, create memories, and surround myself with such talented and beautiful people was truly unforgettable. I came into this experience excited to dance alongside incredible dancers but I didn’t realize how much their influence would lift me. I will cherish the friendships I made and this experience forever. What an amazing chapter this was in my story! (And I can’t wait for what’s around the corner…because this has made me see that this is only the beginning)🎷🥀🫂

Thank you to the wonderful team of this production in trusting me in calling this amazing show! I am so grateful to the choreographers, designers, AD’s and Stage Management team for your support and patience as I learned 12 dance pieces days before opening night. Thank you Maya for having everything prepared to pass over. To my backstage team, you are all amazing and I am grateful to have worked with you all!🫶🏼

Thank you, Shelby for teaching the backstage team your choreography to preform for the dance company!

Last week with Ms Jaden—jazz funk turned all the way up.
Texture, attitude, and nonstop performance energy from start to finish.

This is how we train: sharp movement, bold presence, full commitment.

Lineage - An exhilarating intertwinement of the raw embodiments of dance connectivity with live jazz and Latin music. Navigating a world whilst finding my own identity, music and dance have always been a significant role in my life coming from my abuelitos. From the pain of losing loved ones, the joy of being present with these art forms and the artists have cultivated unique memories with family and new friends.

Music has always been a part of my life. To my family, you’ve shared your stories, cultural pride, love and support my whole life. I wouldn’t be the woman I am without all of you🫂

My cast of talented dancers, musicians, and crew I am so grateful to have each and every one of you a part of a dear piece encapsulating my childhood and friendships through the years. I can’t wait to see what comes next 🫂🎺

My faculty mentor, Dr. Wray, I am honored to be so connected to and supported by you. I will cherish your guidance and insightful talks 💐 @s.amawray
