Perhaps I should have explained this sooner… why ‘Beyond’ The Table?

For me it’s never just about what goes on the table.

Of course I love beautiful tableware and setting a table, but I’m just as interested in everything that’s happening around it.

How do you actually use your table? Everyday family dinners, friends over for supper, big Sunday lunches, homework, working from home… probably a bit of everything.

How does the room feel? Does it work when you have people over? Does it feel like the rest of your home?

I look at the tableware but I also look at the chairs, furniture, lighting, artwork, colour and layout. All the things that make a dining space somewhere you actually want to spend time.

Because there’s not much point having a beautiful table if the space around it doesn’t work for the way you live.

For me it’s about creating somewhere that looks great, works really hard and makes gathering around the table feel easy.

And that’s the ‘Beyond’ bit of Beyond The Table.

It this feels like something you’d like help with, you’re in the right place. DM to chat!

Had an amazing time curating the music for @YankeeCandleUK x @KentGirlsClub 🩷 at the newly reopened Bluewater store.

It was all about creating the right atmosphere while everyone enjoyed candle engraving, cocktails, shopping and making new connections.

Huge shoutout to @weruntheworldfemaledjagency

It was such a beautiful event to be part of, and I hope everyone had as much fun as I did! 🙌🏾

Here's a little recap of the evening. 🎧✨

Blue and green should never be seen? I think it’s time we retired that myth.

Friday afternoon was all about getting the table ready for friends coming to lunch this weekend, and these beautiful blue block print napkins from Huddle Collection became the starting point for the whole design. @huddlecollection

Whenever I’m creating a table, I begin by pulling together everything I think I might use. Having all the pieces in one place makes it much easier to experiment without constantly searching cupboards.

Before styling the whole table, I always complete one place setting first. It gives me chance to step back, check the proportions, colours and layers, and make sure everything feels right before committing to the full design.

And here’s the thing… I often change my mind.

Originally I’d chosen green lamps for the centrepiece, but they just weren’t working in this space. Rather than forcing it, I stripped it back and started again. Fresh flowers would have struggled in the heat, so instead I picked up a dozen Granny Smith apples. They added texture, freshness and actually brought the blue and green palette together even better than I’d imagined.

Round tables are beautiful, but they definitely require a little more thought. I work in concentric circles, using the cutlery as my anchor point to keep every place setting evenly spaced around the table.

The cutlery itself is one of my favourite investments. I bought this Neptune set around five years ago, and they’re still part of their collection today. That’s exactly why I always encourage clients to invest in timeless foundations. Beautiful pieces you’ll love for years rather than just one season.

So… what do you think?

Have we officially proved that blue and green can absolutely be seen?

And while we’re myth busting… what other tablescaping or home styling “rules” have you always questioned?

Decisions made now that will still feel right years later….

The key to easy and stress free tablescaping is to pick the right timeless pieces for your space, your style and in colours that won’t go out of fashion. Classic prints and neutral tones are a great place to start and don’t be afraid to play around with accent colours in your flowers or placecards.

It’s time round tables got a little more love 🤍

This is easily one of my favourite corners of our home, and I’ve had so much fun styling it with the beautiful block print cloths from Huddle Collection.

The colours in this print felt right at home here straight away, soft pinks paired with earthy browns and lovely muted tones that somehow make everything feel calmer but considered.

Also, as someone with a round table, I can confirm that finding a tablecloth that’s both practical and actually looks good is harder than it should be… so this felt like a very good find. The perfect fit for my table.

Having a go-to collection of tableware that all works together makes such a difference in a busy home, it takes the guesswork out of setting the table and means you can pull things together quickly without it ever feeling forced or fussy. I pulled this together in under 30 minutes.

This gorgeous print also comes in blue, plus a range of rectangular sizes as well as round. Honestly, the whole Huddle Collection linen range is full of beautiful pieces worth browsing 🤍

If you’ve been wanting to refresh your dining space or tableware collection or don’t know where to start, send me a message, I’d love to help you create a space that feels stylish, relaxed, and compliments you and your home.

Sometimes it’s not about having more……it’s about seeing the pieces you already own in a different way.

A beautifully styled table doesn’t need to feel complicated or overthought. Using texture, layers and a few thoughtful finishing touches can completely change the feeling of a space and make gatherings feel more relaxed, personal and inviting.

It’s less about perfect styling, and more about creating an atmosphere that feels warm, effortless and enjoyable to be around.

Less pressure.
More confidence in the pieces you own.
And learning to enjoy the process.

Such a simple step, but it really does transform your table.

Adding a place name instantly makes everything feel that little bit more considered and personal. There’s something so lovely about sitting down and seeing your name waiting for you, it never gets old.

But it’s more than just how it looks. It becomes part of the whole experience. Little ones love getting involved, helping to set the table or making name cards for grandparents, aunties and uncles, it all adds to the feeling of bringing everyone together.

Whether they’re handwritten at the kitchen table or beautifully made, they carry so much thought. A chance to bring in the season, a pop of colour, or even a small note for each guest.

And of course… they do make organising where everyone sits that bit easier too.

My top tip if you’re having them personalised ask for two different fonts and colours so you can keep them and reuse them again and again 🤍 Thank you @jadetangstudio for always creating the most beautiful handwritten placements.

One small detail, but it adds so much. Now who’s going to give this a try?!
