We often take modern cameras for granted. Back then, shooting on film or tape brought different habits to set.

Unlike modern cameras:
- We don’t have “unlimited” media space to work with so rehearsals were essential and having a stop watch was important
- Often times the viewfinder wasn’t in colour or came with the tools we have now like false colour or instant playback capabilities
- Gear like the slate were not an optional tool due to lack of internal clip labeling
- Wireless monitoring required a plethora of adapters

The list goes on…

So why shoot on outdated gear? Personally, we chose to work with old techniques not only for the aesthetic of the project but also the deep-rooted love for filmmaking. These long processes give us time to dwell in the patience and practice of the art - to appreciate what came before us and in doing so it helps us prepare for the future of filmmaking…also, it’s just super super fun!

At Bokeh Media, we work with a plethora of mediums, so follow along to see more unique set ups!
