ADVOCACY IN ACTION pt 2.

If you had only a few minutes to authentically connect with someone you had never met, in order to inspire them to rally around your passion for clean air, clean water and a healthy planet, what would you say?

—

Over the course of two days I saw firsthand what the confluence of preparation and passion looks like as Olympians, scientists, athletes, and artists all stood toe to toe with this country’s decision makers and advocated for the end of EPA deregulation, to defend public lands from fossil fuel extraction, and to preserve the outdoor experience for future generations.

It was inspiring to witness.

Today is the day we DELIVER THE LOVE 💕 with the irrepressible Jaelin Kauf. She’s a 3x 🥈 🥈 🥈 Olympian mogul skier who has a heart as big as her air. And she gave us time on the podcast!

REPLY WITH A 🩷or LISTEN and I’ll send you the direct link.

Pinch me! That’s how I always feel when I put the headphones on to interview top athletes like @jaekauf — but she’s so much more than her sport bio.

⬇️⬇️⬇️⬇️

She’s started a foundation to help all athletes called #DelivertheLove where she provides resources for young athletes, parents and coaches to bring joy back to sports. There are so many FREE resources from worksheets to interviews to help athletes compete in a healthy way.

Grateful to Jaelin and this community.

Besides skiing and snow itself, the wintry thing that Colorado might be best known for producing is Olympic athletes.

This year, Colorado sent more athletes to the Milano Cortina 2026 Winter Olympics than any other state, claiming 33 of the 232 spots on the American roster. Current Colorado residents brought home nine medals.

Rocky Mountain PBS got to wondering: what do Olympians do after reaching the literal and figurative mountaintop by medaling at the Olympics? To find the answer, we spoke with four Colorado-born or residing Olympians.

Elizabeth Lemley, 20, had a breakout performance this February, winning two medals at her first Olympics. Lemley took gold in women’s moguls and silver in a new team event, dual moguls. Lemley was born in Ohio but grew up in Steamboat Springs and Vail.

Her teammate in the dual moguls competition was Jaelin Kauf, another Colorado kid and the daughter of professional mogul skiers.

Kauf, 30, lives in Salt Lake City but was born in Vail. Her family moved to Alta, Wyoming, when she was young, but she went to high school in Steamboat Springs. Kauf won silver medals in women’s moguls and dual moguls in Italy. She previously won silver in women’s moguls at the 2022 Beijing Olympics.

Jake Canter, 23, was born and raised in Evergreen. After overcoming a traumatic brain injury as a teenager, Canter made a full recovery and returned to snowboarding. He won bronze in men’s snowboard slopestyle this year at his Olympic debut.

Danny O’Shea, 35, was born in Michigan but moved to Colorado Springs in 2018 to train for pairs figure skating. O’Shea and his partner Ellie Kam competed in Italy as one of Team USA’s two pairs. O’Shea and Kam won gold along with the rest of the American team as part of the team skating competition.

Sometimes you just need someone else to believe in you first. 💛

That was one of the many things that stuck with me from three-time Olympic medalist @jaekauf speech at last Friday’s @girlsontherunutah Sneaker Soirée.

And then she said something else that I can’t stop thinking about:
What if the question we asked women and girls wasn’t what does your body look like? But what can your body do?

YES. 👏

I really wish my daughter had been there to hear Jaelin speak. But lucky for all of us, she’s putting those words into action through her @deliverthelove Foundation, which inspires girls and women to be their best selves through self-love and sport while creating access and opportunity along the way.

I’m so proud to be part of Girls on the Run Utah, an organization that helps girls discover their strength, confidence and courage… and reminds them that there are so many ways to be strong.

Here’s to believing in each other a little louder.

Sneakers on, sequins out, and bids flying. The 14th Annual Sneaker Soiree for @girlsontherunutah was a full night. Cocktail hour upstairs, dinner, a live auction hosted by the one and only @deedeedarbyduffin, and an inspiring keynote from Olympic mogul skier @jaekauf All of it at the stunning @brunchmehard in the Post District. This is what giving looks like when it is also the best night out.
