Yeah I know this post is late but c’mon… y’all knew I wasn’t gonna let this season slide without a recap 😂. Coach Gather (aka Jimmy Cooks) took home Conference Coach of the Year 🏆 and we had 4 state placers.

Kota being Kota (no explanation needed), Javier choking out .8 like it’s a hobby, Pepe beating up Oak (again 🫣), Isaac stuck on the game controller like it was practice, Brycen running a barbershop out of the locker room 💇‍♂️✂️, and Raiden showing us he might actually have hands?? 🤔.

Then you got my little sis wrapping up her last tournament 💙, me out here supporting the “hot wrestling moms” foundation 🤼‍♂️, Derrick laid out like practice was nap time, Jag splitting a kid, Brycen splitting .8 (again), me splitting somebody too just to prove it’s tradition.

Texas Roadhouse with the boys, family pics with my mama and little brother, finishing runner-up AGAIN 🥈, and Kolt dropping life lessons about sandwiches and bread 💵.

Not the perfect season, but definitely the funniest, wildest, and one I’ll never forget. 🤼‍♂️🔥

The experience that I had at the Capitol was one for the books! It was great to witness the process of a Senator proposing their Bill to the floor as a potential law. As I observed the Senators and their various personalities in the same room, I was reminded that no matter what we, as a generation, choose to do with our lives, the future of not only America, but of the world is in our hands. Perceive it as you will.

It was such a great privilege, honor, and blessing to serve as a Page for the illustrious Senator Nikki Nice, one of only two of Oklahoma’s African-American Senators at this time. I stand with great appreciation for the words of support and counsel that she and her exemplary Executive Assistant, Ms. Joyce Willis, offered to me. (Ms. Joyce recommended that I take this opportunity, so special S/O to her) In the various conversations I had with both of these Notable Black Women, I was enlightened to understand that although those around me may look, believe, and think differently than I do, my God-Given right to take up space will continue to stand firm in its place.

Most of all, I am proud to say that this experience would not have been as enriching and enjoyable as it was without my dear fellow Pages. I can recall entering into the hotel lobby, feeling awkward and somewhat uneasy. In full honesty, I didn’t want to Page. That changed as we continued to go places and spend time together. Each and every one of them were nothing short of kind, friendly, welcoming, and engaging. We exemplified the importance of Teamwork, Collaboration, and Communication in an Escape Room (and escaped thanks to those values.) We played Pickleball together, which implemented that real Practice makes true Progress. We went to the movies, re-establishing that authentic and unapologetic Laughter really is one of the keys to a genuinely joyful life. From these various activities and other moments of Joy, Laughter, and Playfulness, came the best group of Pages that the Capitol of Oklahoma will ever see. #CapitolKidz ❤️
