how to say goodbye to your everything?

this is a question i’ve been struggling with as time passes and reality begins to sink in. softball wasn’t just a game i played for fun—it was something that defined me and helped shape the person i am today. no matter the tough plays or difficult innings, this sport was my safe place and it gave me a second family through teammates and coaches who supported me every step of the way.

as i accept that this will be the last time i untie my cleats and put away my glove, i’ve realized that this isn’t truly my final goodbye. although there won’t be another season or another trip to buy a new softball bat, the memories i’ve made, the relationships i’ve built, and the lessons i’ve learned will stay with me forever.

i am incredibly grateful to have experienced the love of this game, and i want to thank everyone who supported me throughout my years of playing.

goodbye, softball. and thank you, dad, for introducing me to the greatest opportunity of my life. 🤍🥎
