The 2026 Salon proves one thing—connection and spacemaking is the key. ✨

Having this event out of the living room and in Pilsen at a locally owned restaurant, Cerdito Muerto @cerditomuertochicago and as part of Chicago Exhibition Week @chicagoexhibitionweek was a perfect recipe. When I first started the LP., I had big dreams of programming like this.

Thank you to our panel - Dr. Ionit Behar @ionitbehar, Dr. Andrea Alvarez @andrea.alvarez.ch, Yvette Mayorga @yvettemayorga , and Jairo Granados-Cardenas @jaigrnds for a moving program on home, place, and belonging.

This Salon came to be in partnership with my dear friend and incredible artist, Yvette Mayorga. Three words came forward - 🎀 The Pink Factory 🎀. The idea of The Pink Factory as a space in Pilsen to not only house Yvette’s studio in the community where she lives, but to also offer a space where artists and community members can gather, making space for artists new and emerging to engage and create — a living and breathing building that activates and celebrates Latinx artists. The 2026 Salon was created in this image.

There have been so many engagements and connections that have already come from this evening. Head to our stories & highlights to learn how to connect with the 2026 Salon panelists.

If you’re interested in learning more about The Pink Factory, please send a DM or email. 📧

Always gathering,
Mirja

October is Community Action Month, and we’re kicking it off with our first event: an artist showcase this Sunday, Oct 4, from 1 to 4pm at Center on Cottage Grove.

Spend the afternoon with three local Chicago artists working across different mediums. Each will share their work, talk about their creative journey, and take a few questions. Afterward, stick around to mingle, get a closer look at the art, and purchase pieces directly from the artists.

Free and open to all. Learn more about the artists and RSVP at the link in our bio.

It takes a community. An evening celebrating Latinx Artists! ✨

WOW! The LP. and team are overwhelmed by the response to this year’s salon, and are humbled and honored. Thank you to everyone who made the 2026 Salon an inspiring evening and success.

Thank you to our panel - Dr. Ionit Behar @ionitbehar, Dr. Andrea Alvarez @andrea.alvarez.ch, Yvette Mayorga @yvettemayorga and Jairo Granados-Cardenas @jaigrnds for a moving program on home, place, and belonging. Thank you for sharing your voices, perspectives, and stories.

The LP. is grateful to Cerdito Muerto @cerditomuertochicago for their hospitality, delicious food, and welcoming the LP. into their space. Created by Emidio Oceguera, a first-generation Mexican-American who grew up on this street, in the very space of the restaurant today.

And thank YOU for showing up, listening, connecting & celebrating the incredible Latinx artists who help shape Chicago. 🩵

Happy Weekend fam! Saturday is the new Friday 👏🏽

Lots of music taking over the city this weekend with the Navy Pier Festival with Common headlining and some familiar faces like Shawnee Dez! Kopano is also performing at the riverwalk this weekend and Principal Barbers is hosting an homage to the music of Stevie Wonder. Sharmon Jarmon headlines Stomping Grounds’s monthly open mic and DJs are sprinkled throughout.

Southside is all about art this weekend as Blanc Gallery and the Arts Incubator both open new exhibitions. And Chicago exhibition weekend comes to a close with artist talks, one of which features our lovely Working From the Hoxton artist in residence Jairo Granados Cardenas in conversation with Yvette Mayorga at Monique Meloche.

We are excited to announce a new layer of our partnership with Working From Fulton Market at The Hoxton Hotel! In conjunction with our biannual episodes of AMFM L!ve, we will be curating a visual artist to showcase artwork at Working From as a 6-month exhibition opportunity.

Our first featured artist is Jairo Granados-Cardenas (@jaigrnds). Jairo is a Chicago based photographer who draws inspiration from the bustling urban landscape and the diverse tapestry of people that populate the city, particularly the Little Village neighborhood of Chicago. His work invites viewers to engage with the complexities and intimacies of the human experience.

If you’re a member of @_workingfrom_ or find yourself in the space soon, make sure you check out his work! All work is available to purchase. Please reach out to view available works.

This show is so so special to me and the Queer Mexican/ Mexican-American y Chicano community here in Chicago!! And it’s really cool that I can speak on the queer Latine history & culture in Chicago over the last 15 years because I have had a part in shaping it. I loved working with everyone involved. I loved showing my largest work to date! The Consulado General de México en Chicago is committed to being a safe space para toda nuestra gente and this is a lovely partnership 🏳️‍🌈
Go see the exhibition, I shared the poster with dates 🌹
