What does it look like when a community gathers to celebrate its creativity and draws strength from the generations who made it possible?

Cincinnati’s UnderWorld Black Arts Festival brings that story to the Woodward Theater on Friday, November 6. Returning for its eighth year, the festival combines hip-hop artist J-LIVE, films, dance and martial arts demonstrations, and keynote speaker Dr. Jaime Kowlessar in one evening celebrating “360° of Black Creativity.”

Late July Dump

Although the month of July will never be one of my favorites. I made a deal to self to actually make the efforts to go out(side) more. I made the effort to entertain a few invites and invite myself to the others and make the best of all of them. I mean at the end of the day. This is what New York summers are all about… right?

PRAISE THE LORD!! 🎓🙌🏾

This man right here just completed his PhD, and y’all… the journey was NOT easy. MS. A pandemic. Life throwing curveball after curveball. But he stayed the course. He didn’t quit.

So when you see him celebrating this moment, know it wasn’t just hard work — it was God’s goodness carrying him through every single step.

I am so proud of my husband. Dr. Jaime, we made it. 🥹

This is what faithfulness looks like. This is what “God’s timing” looks like.

We serve a God who finishes what He starts. 🙏🏾
