A lowrider or low rider is a customized car with a lowered body that emerged in the post-WWII, 1940s–1950s era. The exact origin of the lowrider is debatable, but it was likely birthed in Southern California, with many people claiming that lowriders really started in Tijuana, Texas, or New Mexico. Lowriders were particularly popular amongst young Chicanos, who adopted the art of rolling “low and slow” (or bajito y suavecito), directly opposing mainstream culture which focused on fast cars such as hot rods. In lowrider culture, lowriders are considered to serve as transportation art or transported art.

The best way to ring in this incredibly exciting year of 2026! We got to spend a wonderful week at Urbana and then spent an additional silly goofy 36 hours gallivanting across Arizona!!

I’m still in awe from the passion and depth we got to witness in 7,000 people’s hearts at @urbana.25 !! This is a global faith, which is something I am so grateful I got to witness in my time studying abroad in London, but it was a whole other level of amazement hearing from people across the ENTIRE world who are actively caring for and ministering to their communities. If you’ve never thought about religion deeply, I encourage you to just be curious about Christianity. Read books, talk to people, and start thinking about truth! Because in Jesus there is the deepest love, grace, and freedom that we will ever experience in our lives! And that is worth searching for!
