Next month, I’ll be heading back to Africa — revisiting a few favorite regions while also venturing into some entirely new ones.

For the past 13 years, since founding @soulofafricatravel, I’ve been incredibly fortunate to experience some of the most extraordinary places, wildlife and hospitality that Africa has to offer. But what has made those journeys even more meaningful is being able to share them with my children along the way.

Over the years, Africa has become part of our family story — a place where we’ve celebrated milestones, discovered new perspectives and, I hope, developed a lifelong connection to this incredible continent.

This next trip feels especially unique. I’ve just turned 50, and my daughter Averie has just turned 16. She’ll be joining me for part of the trip, continuing a tradition that began when she took her very first safari at just 3½ months old.

I’m always excited to experience Africa through her eyes and to share something we both love so deeply.

Follow along as we experience extraordinary properties, encounter incredible wildlife and, as always, spend time with the remarkable people who are the true heart and soul of this continent.

As this year comes to a close, I find myself deeply grateful for the contrast it held. From unforgettable journeys across Africa—where wide-open landscapes, wildlife encounters, and meaningful connections reminded me why travel stirs the soul—to slower, grounding moments spent at home in the USA, surrounded by family.

Africa filled my cup with awe and perspective, reinforcing the privilege of exploring places that leave a lasting imprint on the heart. And time with family brought balance—shared meals, laughter, milestones, and the simple comfort of being together. This year was a beautiful reminder that while travel expands us, it’s the people we return to who truly anchor us. Here’s to carrying these memories forward and welcoming the next chapter with gratitude and curiosity ✨
