The making of the Samus Aran pool noodle 😂

As I get ready for the next iteration of this, here are some behind the scenes of @jake_assemblyrequired (and fellow para climber) from my home gym @rockreationla helping me with this one I used at the last competition.

I got to see the French Para Climbing Team at @rockreationla during their time in Los Angeles before many of us head to France for the next @worldclimbing competition 🇫🇷

I also got the OK to ease back into climbing, so I’m officially back after 6 weeks. The last time I was climbing was a chair 🪑😅

We’re experimenting with what makes the most sense to protect my paralyzed arm while I climb as I continue recovering.

And thank you to @evolv_worldwide and @adaptclimbgroup for my new climbing shoes! 👟 I’ve been eyeing this pair ever since @crushing_benjamin recommended them last November. I didn’t end up getting the right size back in December, so the timing finally worked out.

Excited to keep rebuilding, one climb at a time. 🧗🏻‍♀️

I’m currently in a hospital waiting room, 5 days before Christmas, while my perfect baby gets a 6th surgery. I thought I have experienced hard before, but 2024 just won’t quit. But I need to stay positive, so here are some of my favorite Fausto moments from the past few months including when my bestie @willscitylife came to visit, wonderful beach and coffee outings with friends, climbing with Tio Jake, visiting the aquarium, and meeting great grandma on Thanksgiving . Despite everything, Fausto is always my happy and silly boy. Please send positive energy our way. @elchrisxian and I need it now more than ever.

Goodbye our cute Pistachio Magnolia Long Beach living ✌🏻This house represented a pivotal time in my life of independence, not relying on someone to stand on my own, adapting to the most change and accepting of my new life, and guess what? It was all okay. I was okay. More okay then I thought I could ever be.
It’s bitter sweet to say goodbye, I’m going to miss this place and living with my roomies so much. @jake_assemblyrequired @charlesbronzin

Legless, Legless and Legolas?

If you love climbing, you’re a climber. No labels. Just… climbing whānau/family , all over the world.

And I’ve learned over the years that many of us, no matter who we are, lean into our sports because we’re growing into ourselves, and working through our own chaos and history to find the calm.

Or to find the edge?

I didn’t know at the time, when I made some super crappy tape gloves for @orlandobloom, that he’d had a fall in his teens and broken his back. Somehow knowing that makes a being around for his first crack at crack climbing in LA a little bit magic..

I lost a leg to this sport, and yet still it’s the place where I feel most calm, most pain free, most present, and most alive. So seeing anyone, ANY one.. 2 legs, one leg, actor or elf, confront scary shit and seek their edge gets me in the feels. We’re all human. The world seems to keep forgetting that. We all bleed on the rock.

Lucky for Orlando, my badass friend @mo.in.mountains was on hand to take him on a wild adventure and journey from tying in for the first time to sending a bucket list dream of a climb… Ancient Art! Just think 400ft tower in stunning Moab. (I won’t lie.. little bit of fomo because every time I’ve been to Moab with Mo it’s been too hot. But one day! )

You can watch To The Edge on Peacock in the USA I believe! Not sure about here in New Zealand. But I’m going to go out on a limb and say … it’ll be epic and Mo will say funny shit which we all proper love. And she probably taught him how to do better tape gloves. 😂

I’m wishing on a dandelion there’s a bloopers reel…. Because Mo would bring down the house!

Here’s to getting comfortable with the uncomfortable edges that it takes to grow! Here’s to growing our climbing whānau. And here’s to finding our edge and our process for calm in the midst of chaos.., because that right there … that’s also pure magic.

And remember, with a little self belief, we can go beyond what we can see.

In November 2023, the oldest adventurers club admitted its first female members. Last month, I had the honor of sharing the things and people I love at a live taping at the @the_adventurersclub as their guest speaker. It was a magnificent dinner and an epic museum of over 100 years of adventurers you wouldn't believe! A big thank you to my friends local to #losangeles and from far away for coming out to support me.
