Meet Our Director, Jake Hankey!

“Jake is a performer and director from Newton-le-Willows. After receiving a First Class Honours Degree in Musical theatre, Jake graduated in 2020 and co-founded New AJE Productions, alongside Eliza. They produced and appeared in a Live Stream of [Title of Show], organised an agent showcase in the North-West and created digital media for The Civic Trust Awards and Manchester band, Madame Claude.

Following this he spent 6 months at sea as Lead Production Vocalist for ‘Viking Cruises', which marked his professional debut. Since then he has starred in Pantomimes across the UK and a Sun dishwasher commercial.

He then moved to Dubai where he spent the last 2 years as a Director and a Musical Theatre BTEC Course leader.

His directing credits include Little Shop of Horrors (Howard Ashman & Alan Menken), A Monster Calls (Patrick Ness), Shrek the Musical (David Lindsay-Abaire & Jeanine Tesori) and The Wind in the Willows (Julian Fellowes, George Stiles & Anthony Drewe).

As a performer, Jake appeared with Congress Players in their 2015 production of Les Misérables and is so excited to be returning to work with such a great company.”

We look forward to welcoming Jake back to Congress Players, this time as part of our 2027 production team!

You guessed it…. Congress Players 2027 Production

SWEET CHARITY ❤️

“We are incredibly excited to be bringing this classic musical to the stage, but we won’t be approaching the show in quite the way you might expect. We have developed a fresh and distinctive interpretation of the piece, exploring the characters and story from a different perspective while retaining the heart, humour, music and energy that make Sweet Charity such a brilliant show.”
