Thirty, flirty, and moving! ✈️ For the next two years, I'll be in living in Austria to get my masters degree in East Asian Economy and Society at the University of Vienna 🇦🇹

It's hard to put into words how much I'm going to miss DC. I've lived here for 12 years. I became an adult here, met friends who would become like siblings here, had my first real job here. For the first time, I was fully in charge of the life I created - and goddamn, did I make a good one.

I spent my summer making memories with some of my favorite people in some of my favorite places. These photos only reflect a few of them. To everyone who has been in my life here, thank you. I love you. And I miss you already ❤️

It's never goodbye, it's always see you later (or in this case, see you in three months lol). Come say hi if you're ever in Europe!

Feeling alive after the killer show at Rhizome in Washington DC last night. While passing through town, I got to spend some fun quality time with my rad cousins-in-law @marty_laughbaum and @jake_tracey while we watched the World Cup at an Irish Pub, had an amazing hang with true head and guitar brother @jonrcamp , many thanks to him and Sarah for hosting me, and it’s always deeply inspiring to witness the maestro @marisaandersonmusic in action, an honor to share a bill with her.

I’m heading to Los Angeles now for two Sunday gigs: an 11:30 am brunch concert at the Skirball Center, where I will play music from across my ouvre, and an evening concert where I will play the music from my new record Autechre Guitar at 2220 Arts + Archive with Laura Shumate.

2nd quarter review shows significant growth in tomfoolery related functions. Shareholders should expect rate of shenanigans to skyrocket.

2023 & Me

310123 | 2023 for me was a year blessed with love, scientific discovery, creative energy, & new adventures:
- I was able to visit Texas (twice), DC, Oregon, California, Wyoming, and Tennessee ✈️
- I graduated with a BS in Biology and moved from Utah to Oregon to start my PhD (waking up to the GRFP acceptance was pretty nice too) 🎓
- I visited 7 national parks: Arches, Canyonlands, Capitol Reef, Bryce, Zion, Joshua Tree, and Grand Teton🥾
- I presented 3 different posters at 4 conferences (1 being out of state and fully funded to travel) and have 3 co-author publications out with 1 in review 📊
- I began painting again and picked up a new ceramics hobby 🎨🏺
- I read A LOT of amazing books 📚
- I had heartfelt moments with old friends and made new traditions with new friends🫶🏼
I’m proud of all these accomplishments and so grateful for the incredible opportunities I’ve had this year but I’m most thankful for the people I had alongside me on the way🩷
