Got back from Bishop last night, what a trip!

Going into the season my only goal was to train my ass off and send Lucid. When I showed up in Bishop this season, I knew I was prepared and managed to dispatch it quick.

I quickly got locked into “The Process” after and lemme tell you, they don’t call it that for nothing. My first session I got to the last move… and then I got to the last move every. Single. Session. Since. Unfortunately, my entire last week was spent waiting for the wind to die down. It never did.

This post isn’t about that though. As much as I would have loved to send, the trip was a complete success and went about as perfect as I could have dreamed.

Shoutout to everyone that made this trip to the desert extra special, and shoutout to the best crew in the game! Bishop holds a special place in my heart and always will.

Jason’s Roof. One of the best roof climbs on grit, featuring some midges, some dodgy camera-work, and some exceptionally questionable beta. First move got cut out because I was too focused and pulled on without letting anyone know… I tried this one before I left to go to America a number of years ago, and couldn’t quite put it together. It felt like a personal victory that I could come back this weekend and get it finished. Climbing, and sport more generally, has something of a cult of youth going on with it. In my twenties I always felt like time was slipping away from me faster than I could take advantage of it. But I’m stronger and smarter now than I was then. And I realise I’ve still got many years ahead in which I can keep pushing, keep improving, and keep reaching for my goals. Wish I could’a remembered where the holds were at the top of this one though. It might not have been the smooth send I wanted, but it was probably the one I deserved 🐋 #whale

Fontainebleau has always been a bit of a nemesis area for me - I find the climbing there SO hard. Maybe it’s because you have to hold onto the holds really hard? 🤷🏼‍♀️ Anyway it’s been nice this trip to actually feel surprisingly strong, and to be able to experience some of the classic boulders here more similar to how they’re supposed to feel. All the time spent on the Big Rock board not going to waste! I’ve been a little too psyched to take many videos so far, but here’s one of the cooler boulders I’ve done which is the left hand finish of the classic Noir Desir. Supposedly the lesser cousin to the right hand finish - IMO climbs much better. Thanks @jakeclimber for the support and the filming, hope your knee gets better soon…

Managed to squeeze one more boulder in on the way to the airport. A lot of the time I feel like videos make climbs look disappointingly easy, but here’s one from the other side of the coin. Catch me skating my feet around, forgetting my beta and climbing like an all-round chuffer on “The Compactor” - somewhere near Ayer, MA
