DEEP DIVE
2024 | EXHIBITION DESIGN & PHOTOGRAPHY CONCEPT

The group exhibition Deep Dive, presented by the HBKsaar design workshop, explored the close relationship between ceramics and water. Taking inspiration from François Schwamborn’s work, the ceramics were displayed on the surface of black-lacquered basins and supported by MDF
trusses and aerated concrete towers. This calm, architectural setting contrasted with the expressive design objects themselves.

Water was also used as a visual language: reflections and shadows created symbolic depth, while poured water and rising air bubbles made the act of diving tangible. Thus, water could be experienced as both an essential element in ceramic production and an image of immersion and reflection. The visual material developed for the exhibition not only documented the show, but also expanded its concept into an independent artistic work.

Group Exhibition „Feldstudie“

2024 April.14 - 20

This exhibition focused on the theme of what can be created from the „leftover spaces in urban development.“ In response, I made paper from grass that was growing in the gaps along the autobahn.

We also held workshops at the exhibition where everyone enjoyed making paper together.

Thank you Samuele!

There is a space for learning hidden in the most common things, suspended in the links between what we perceive and what we don’t know.

Artists question reality,
we asked them something more about it.
We can turn the spotlight on an undefined, yet emerging, landscape; shifting our point of view into specific fragments of Saarbrücken, getting lost in what is hidden in plain sight, and experiencing the situation of placing ourselves in an unedited scenario.

What do I find moving from one fragment to another?
The Saarbrücken cityscape allows us to experience different rhythms, asphalt and water, ruins and billboards, overstimulation and silence.

We want to take a step into this high-contrast landscape, exploring the links between space and words.
Feldstudie is an experiment to understand reality better, juxtaposing layers of landscape… we will build a panoramic point of view on different research findings, a field to explore and start a conversation.

Some insights in our first semester workshop SITZEN X3 with Moritz Putzier @studiomoritzputzier

In the sense of Martino Gamper, who made 100 chair designs in 100 days, we sit once a day in this three-day workshop: at the end of the day on a self-made chair, stool or a modified ready-made.

DAY 1: Reduce to the Max
DAY 2: Ready Made
DAY 3: Stroll

Students: Bo Ram Park, Diqiu Zhao, Florian Dittgen, Jad Dinari, Jakob Schrader, Kerstin Rullik, Moana Prinz, Maximilian Rink, Wenjing Wang, Yoon Ji Kum
