If you know me, like really know me, you’ll know how special this musical is to my heart. You’ll have heard me rehearse these songs so many times before I ever auditioned! This show is an inspiration to me, as a writer, as an actor, and as an artist! In this show, I recognized myself, my family, and a possibly glimpsed a place where our stories take center stage. It is beyond humbling to say that I now get to sing, dance, rap, and act in this dream! I am forever grateful to the talented cast, the amazing crew, and to my Lord and Savior for making all of this possible! 🙏

“Sueñito? It means ‘little dream.’”

“So, I’m going to enjoy this as much as I can, and then the show will close or something will happen and I’ll go. It’s not every day that you write a part for yourself and people say, ‘Yeah, that’s great. Do it.’ So, I’m trying to just enjoy that as much as I can.”

Four & a half years ago, @ethanlipsitz invited me to co-write a musical with him. A year after that, @raymondocaldwell came on board to direct & help us develop this thing into something with gigabytes.

Last year, @martyaustinlamar agreed to help us develop it further with his students & him at @csufmusicaltheatre & @csufthtrdance. First with a small weekend workshop last fall, & then this year by embedding the show’s development into his class.

And so this past Sunday, after a semester’s worth of hard, profound, & brilliant workshopping, the BA & BFA majors from @csufmusicaltheatre & @csufthtrdance performed a musical review of @aolthemusical at @fountaintheatre, directed by @raymondocaldwell, with musical direction by @martyaustinlamar, @ethanlipsitz & @liv3rkill3r on guitar, & Marty on piano.

And gosh did I weep my little musical theatre kid heart out from the front row. (And dance & belt like I am wont to do during a last minute cameo)

Thank you to every single cast member. And our Workshop Assistant Producer @just_mads54. And TA @michael._.navarro. And @raymondocaldwell. And @martyaustinlamar. And everyone at @fountaintheatre. And all of my beloveds who came to watch.

My favorite thing about musical theatre is & has always been the collaboration. That it takes a roster of brilliant humans to co-create magic. To take emotions that are too big for words, & turn them into song & dance.

Thank you & congrats to everyone. Holy holy wow.

(PS. I tried to tag the whole squad! If I missed you, please feel free to make yourself known!)

What a show! I will forever be grateful for my time at @ylspotlight with 9 to 5! This has been one of my most treasured show experiences in my life. It was the most well connected and kind hearted cast I have ever been a part of and so much of that is due to the amazing work of @charnaleelopez @maddiebeanneyoung and @christofmusicgram. Thank you for allowing me to have so much fun and play with this show and with this character. So much love to the whole 9 to 5 crew!
