We are pumped for @feralfoster to return to the Brooklyn Folk Festival this year! He will be kicking off the show this Friday at 7:00 pm on the main stage! Feral Foster has spent much of his life on stages in New York City and beyond. Drawing from the traditions of early blues and country, his music feels timeless and relevant to here and now. As the founder of Jalopy Theatre’s beloved Roots n’ Ruckus series, which has been running monthly for over 20 years now, Foster has become a cornerstone of the city’s folk scene, using his platform to champion emerging and established artists alike. It’s always a treat to see him perform on the folk festival stage, and we can’t wait to see what he has in store for us. Just today he released ‘New World Blues’ on @jalopy_records We will be celebrating the release tonight at the @jalopy.tavern and we cant wait to hear more soon! Tickets are on the website, and the festival is fast approaching, so be sure to get a ticket now! We can’t wait to see you there!

Avoid disappointment and snap your tickets up now for Jen Hodge Celebrates 30 Years on Bass!!! at the @jalopybrooklyn Theatre on Friday, November 13th - link in my bio! 🎟️🔗🎉 This photo was by taken by @davidtresham outside @guiltandco in Vancouver, where I led a band every Wednesday for 9 years 💖 At the show on the 13th, you can expect music and anecdotes (there are lots of each!) from the past three decades of bass playing, which have taken me everywhere from the Yukon to Hong Kong, from Andalucía to Arkansas, from hippie weddings in the woods to the swankiest metropolitan hotels, and from the humblest dive bars to the GRAMMY Awards. Of course, we’re also going to be looking at what lays ahead! The absolute dream team of musicians on the roster for this evening will be recording an album for @turtlebayrecords in the new year, my first record as a New York city bandleader, so this show is your chance to hear brand spanking new original music and arrangements before we take them into the studio. Musician lineup... @jenhodgebass - bass, vocals; @jayrattman - reeds; @andrew.stephens.trumpet - trumpet; @sam.chess - trombone; @brennenernst - guitar; @jonthomasjazz - piano; Kevin Dorn - drums …plus special guests to be announced soon! Jalopy Theatre & School of Music 315 Columbia Street, Brooklyn, NY Doors 8pm, Show 8:30pm $25 advance / $30 day of show *Nov 13 is also my birthday. There’s gonna be cake.

🎻 Found in Brooklyn, NY, Jalopy Theatre is a one-of-a-kind home for folk and traditional music, where handmade details, church pews, and an intimate listening room put the focus exactly where it belongs: on the artists and the music they share. In this feature, renowned fiddler and instructor @bruce_molsky and venue owner Lynette Wiley offer a glimpse inside a space that keeps musical traditions alive and fosters a multigenerational community through live performances, an emphasis on a wide variety of music classes, and a shared love of the art form. 🎶 Be sure to check them out the next time you're in NYC and give a follow @jalopybrooklyn! Let's continue to support the spaces that keep live music thriving. . . #LiveMusicSociety #JalopyTheatre #BrooklynMusic #FolkMusic LiveMusic

Skip the haunted house this year. Two nights before Halloween, Jalopy Theater goes dark for the old supernatural ballads. Revenants at the door, demon lovers, the drowned and the murdered come back to name names. One voice, one quiet room, and the songs our great-great-grandparents sang to scare the s---t out of each other four hundred years before anyone dreamed of a horror movie. Come find out why they still work. Venomous Verses in the Gloaming An evening of Supernatural Ballads With Shinbone Alley Thursday Oct 29 8pm Doors · 830pm Show Jalopy Theatre 317 Columbia Street, Brooklyn

Loved talking about music with @dancingaboutarchitecture65 for the @bigtakeovermag. We got into all the weeds about Long Live The Low, opening for heroes, and trying to keep my room clean. Check it!

We’re celebrating 20 years of Free Dirt at the @brooklynfolkfest in early Nov! This will be your first chance to grab a copy of our anniversary compilation which features 12 previously unreleased recordings from artists such as @willicarlisle, @cinder_well, @kaiakater, @vivandriley & more! We are also curating some fun programming including a bunch of shows as well as a workshop discussion that will be the *first time* we’ve ever publicly told the story of the label! Hope to see lots of friends there. This is a truly special festival in one of the greatest cities!
