Helping Jody (@ukeboy808) and I (@edsugimoto) celebrate the 1 year anniversary of our Aloha Friday series is Mr. Aloha Friday himself: Kimo Kahoano and his son Kamuela!! Our minds are blown! 🤯🤯🤯 Mahalo to the legendary Mr. @kimokahoanoofficial and son Mr. @kamuelamusic for making this a memory we will never forget! 💕🤗🤙🏼

Kimo Kahoano is a celebrity emcee, entertainer, actor, singer and radio personality. A graduate of Kamehameha Schools, Kahoano is known around the world for popularizing the song "Aloha Friday" being the voice and co-host of the Merrie Monarch Hula Festival and "Hawaii Stars," and one of the co-founders of the Na Hoku Hanohano Awards.

Kamuela Kahoano is an award winning singer/songwriter, painter/visual artist and music producer with a song list that defies imagination. His music has elements of acoustic, folk, indie and alternative with Hawaiian influences. He is an accomplished player of both the ukulele and guitar, and performs solo regularly around town. What began as a simple way to connect with our community blossomed into a weekly tradition — our “Aloha Friday” jam sessions with neighboring businesses and fellow Kaimuki locals. Week after week, these gatherings brought new friendships, rekindled old ones, and created memories that will last a lifetime.

It’s amazing how two friends, two ʻukuleles, and a shared vision of spreading aloha can ignite so much joy and positivity in everyday life.

We are beyond excited to celebrate one of our very own Ukulele Hale Rising Stars — Marley! 🌟 This incredible young woman had recently qualified for the prestigious International Ukulele Competition as a finalists, and we couldn’t be more proud!

Marley has been wowing audiences with her ʻukulele skills for 7 amazing years, already earning 3rd place at the Mana Maoli Ukulele Contest and taking the top spot at the Dukes Ukes Contest in 2025. But what makes Marley truly extraordinary is her unstoppable drive across multiple disciplines. When she’s not strumming her ʻukulele, she’s tearing up the stage as a competitive dancer with @vibedancehawaii and training hard as a member of the @kachikarate Competition Team. As a USA Karate National Junior team member, she even brought home a silver medal from the Pan American Karate Championships. Talk about a triple threat! 🤙🥋🎶

Marley, you are an inspiration to us all. Keep shining, keep strumming, and keep showing the world what you’re made of!

And as a special treat, here’s a feel-good island style song written and recorded by Marley’s instructor @ukeboy808 and his partner Chris of Heart & Soul. Jody is playing a tenor custom ʻukulele that he built himself, a true labor of love made possible by his Kumu Eddie Hoʻopiʻi. Sit back and enjoy! 🎶

Hawaii is taking center stage at the 2026 International Ukulele Contest MVP Competition! 🌺 Out of the 5 incredible Hawai’i finalists, we are absolutely thrilled to share that 4 of them—Aliya, Brayden, Lina, and Marley—are our very own @ukulelehale students!

Join us this Friday, July 10th, from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM at Rock-A-Hula (Royal Hawaiian Center) to cheer them on as they share their talent and compete against finalists from around the world. Get ready for an afternoon of entertainment and unmatched musical passion!

Big News for @ukulelehale! 🤩

Huge congratulations to Marley, one of our incredibly talented students, who has made it to the finals of the prestigious International Ukulele Competition!

Marley will be competing today at Rock-A-Hula (Royal Hawaiian Center) starting at 2:00 PM. Out of just five finalists representing Hawaii, four are our very own Ukulele Hale students! Let’s show some love and cheer on Marley, Brayden, Aliya, and Lina as they take the stage against competitors from around the world. 🌟

But wait, the music doesn’t stop there! 🎸

Join us this Sunday, July 12th, at 12:30 PM at Kapi’olani Park for the @intl_ukulele_fest!

You can watch Ukulele Hale perform live at 12:30 PM, and then catch the Ukulele Hale Rising Stars as they light up the stage right after.

Enjoy a full day of incredible live entertainment, hands-on workshops, cultural experiences, ono food, and community fun for everyone! Best of all? It’s completely FREE! 🙌
