BEFORE I KNEW THE FIGHT
Diagnosed before I could understand pain, I learned to survive before I learned to speak.
Sickle cell tested my body, but it could never define the strength within me.
When I couldn’t always compete, I found another way to create, to lead, and to leave my mark.
Today, I carry every scar as proof not of what tried to break me, but of what made me unstoppable.

SICKLE SCAR🎗️🤍

Sickle cell is a conversation so dear to my heart. My husband has lived with this disease all his life, and God has been so good to him. Today, he continues to use his story and his art to advocate, educate, and create awareness.

Art has always been one of his strongest outlets, and seeing him bring his vision to life through his very first exhibition was so beautiful to witness. The planning, phone calls, emails, meetingsssss… BOYYYYYY! 😭😂 I honestly don’t know how he does it while we’re also planning our wedding!

I truly admire his drive and determination to share his vision with the world. SICKLE SCAR was such a beautiful exhibition, and I’m beyond proud of him. 🥹❤️

Thank you to everyone who came from near and far, helped set up, served, took pictures, asked questions, and most importantly, learned something new about sickle cell disease.

This is bigger than art. It’s awareness, advocacy, and purpose. May God continue to use his story to touch lives. This is only the beginning! ❤️✨

What started as an idea became a room filled with art, stories, education, emotion and conversations that needed to happen. I Created Sickle Scars to make the invisible battles of sickle cell visible and to give warriors, families and our community a space to feel seen.

Nobody warned me about THESE parts of being a “big girl” 👀

It’s not always about loving or hating your body! Sometimes it’s the little things that make you realize how differently you move through the world — from being told what you “should” wear, to the shopping struggle, to becoming way too aware of your body in certain spaces

And honestly? I think we should talk about it…

Because being a bigger girl doesn’t mean we have to wait until we’re smaller to dress cute, take the picture, go out, date, travel, or just LIVE 🤎

It is suddenly the end of September, and seeing how much can change in a year can change..

I went from travelling to being outside and having the time of my life, recovering from a herniated disc & sciatica, to injuring my back again.. and now trying to rebuild back and to what I was before.

It has finally become bearable to sit down for longer than 20 minutes which is still great process for a herniated disc, but it is frustrating to have to think about every move I make ❤️‍🩹

For anyone struggling with this injury, I am here for you and understand it is not talked about enough

Spend the day with us downtown Toronto at the CNE 🤍

It definitely took us two hours to get downtown and find parking, but once we got there it was so worth it ✨

I didn’t try any of the foods everyone was talking about I couldn’t bring myself to do it 😭

But it was still fun
