Huge thank you to @harvardlocal and @best.acreativeagency for trusting me to moderate AND help curate the Kicks & Culture Career Summit. The whole idea was to create a space that challenged what a “traditional” career is supposed to look like and show people that the things we’re passionate about , sneakers, music, art, culture, creativity .... can really turn into meaningful careers. And we did exactly that. To every speaker, performer and creative who poured into the room, THANK YOU. And to everybody who pulled up, asked questions, made connections and brought the energy… y’all are what made the day what it was. I’m big on creating the rooms I wish existed when I was younger, so being able to help bring something this unique to life at Harvard really meant something to me. More access. More knowledge. Hay días en donde mi mente ya no puede más, donde me duele caminar, donde llorar no basta. Tampoco basta soñar, hablar o seguir buscando respuestas para tantas preguntas que quizás nunca las tengan. Hay días en donde la lluvia puede tocar mi cuerpo y, aun así, dejo de sentir esa sensación de estar vivo. Buscando sombra en el olvido de este sol infernal que llamamos, con soberbia, divino. Sonriéndole a gente a la que no queremos sonreír, dándole tiempo a lo que ya no queremos darle tiempo y espacio a lo que hace mucho dejó de caber ahí. ¿Por qué hacer las cosas por presión social? Siempre me pareció absurdo querer encajar. Desde niño sabía que no tenía ese FOMO por buscar lo que todos buscan, sentir lo que todos quieren sentir o tener lo que todos anhelan. “Todos” no somos. Y cuando entendemos eso, sabemos que lo único que nos queda es vivir, porque sobrevivir no necesariamente nos hará felices y la vida es demasiado corta. Con suerte salí de ese derrame. Mi madre dice que fue un milagro y, pensándolo bien, sé que lo fue. Ahora entiendo que mi misión tiene un valor que no puedo comparar con nada dentro de mi mundo personal: transportar ese mensaje, plasmarlo, sentirlo y, finalmente, dejarlo existir en paz.
