Earlier this year I caught Dosage Hinojosa album from 2024, If you can’t dazzle them with brilliance, baffle them with bullshit. It’s an album I liked and knew I wanted to keep up with more Dosage. Then in July he dropped Here’s Looking At You, Dosage Hinojosa latest album that’s filled with dark beats and strong features!
.
When I reviewed If you can’t dazzle them with brilliance, baffle them with bullshit, my main critique was that sometimes Dosage Hinojosa flow was off just a bit for my tastes. Which happens all the time with mainstream and underground artist, no big deal at the end of the day and is a preference thing. That said, I felt like Dosage brought a flow that was a bit tighter and sharper which is exactly what I needed to enjoy this album a bit more than the last. There’s still some moments across the album that get a little bumpy but I can appreciate the flow as Dosage Hinojosa style at the same time.
.
The album was producer by Frank Loopis and he put in some great work, the beats here kept me locked in from start to finish and made for a great work area for Dosage Hinojosa. Like I said, there’s multiple great MCs here to add to the album like Vic Spencer, AM Early Morning, Destruct & Jamar Equality to name a few. They help raise up some of my favorite songs, Not For Purchase, Meeting in the Desert & Black Lotion. There’s only 3 solo Dosage Hinojosa songs here but all 3 are good and highlights of the album.
.
Dosage Hinojosa is still growing on me project by project but this one took a big step forward for me. Frank Loopis and his production fot like a puzzle piece with Dosage and I’d love to hear more from them together someday. But if not I’m happy we got this album and suggest you give it a shot!
