NS V28 local passing a farm field at king William, VA. It was cool seeing a former Southern Railway Locomotive leading on former Southern Railway lines. I was hopeful the train would come in just ten minutes before it actually did because the sun was still up.

N&W 611 rolling past my grand father’s Antique car. The car is a 1954 mercury Monterey. Truly a blast railfaning with this car.

(fyi, my grandfather recommended this music lol)

A former Chicago & North Western GP7 high hood (now a chopped nose) leads NBER 7 FRA geometry train from Tyrone, PA to Lock Haven, PA. This is my first and probably my only time catching trains on the North Shore Railroad.

Saw some cool relics Down at the Juniata shops when UP Big Boy 4014 came into Altonna for the first time. Sad to see NS 9747 the last “thoroughbred” dash 9 on the Norfolk Southern roster rotting away about to be scrapped and rebuilt. There was also NS 8688 the last existing B39-8 used for engine testing as well as NS 9770 “white face” paired up with a “Thoroughbred” SD40-2 NS 6145. The shops also had the last NS non dash 2 GP38 NS 2922 & NS 2948. NS 9797 which had the “Thoroughbred” hood is also set for scrap and rebuild.

Union Pacific’s Big Boy 4014 sits at Norfolk Southern Enola yard at 2am in the morning. The yard crews gave us a nice jester by putting up lights to shine on big boy during the night before leaving for Altonna in the morning.

The largest Steam Engine in the world going over the longest stone masonry arch in the world.

Union Pacific’s Big Boy 4014 crossing the Rockville bridge with about 5-10 thousand people watching from both sides across the water. Not to mention about 50 drones were around Big Boy when it was going over the bridge with 4 drones “reportedly” going into the water. I myself almost lost my DJI mini pro 5 drone taking these shots with another drone flying inches over mine. Sill the pictures were worth the wait and walk though.

CSX loaded Corn train G635 Derailment at Richmond, Virginia this evening into the James River. Like the last derailment 8 months ago the accident occurred in the middle of the train where the MDPU Middle Engines are at on the fright Train.

(Part 1) @amtrak P40DC has since been retired on August of 2025 with Amtrak 817 and 837 were the last P40DC’s to be put out of service and sent to Beech grove likely to be scrapped. These pictures were taken at Ashland off the annual “Ashland train day” of 2023. I saw 4 different P40DC locomotives that day.

NS 068 Moves N&W 611, The last Class J Steam Engine from the @vmtroanoke Museum at Roanoke, VA to Waynesboro, VA for the Buckingham Branch Railroad to take it to Goshen, VA. This was for the Upcoming @virginiascenicrailway Steam Excursion which would last 5 weeks. It’s always nice to see a Norfolk Southern Nine Series Dash 9 lead a train. Let alone a Steam Engine move which is rare to see a Steam Engine run on a mainline these days.
