BEAUJOLAIS? NOT QUITE 🇺🇸🍒

Gamay behøver åbenbart ikke at komme fra Beaujolais, for at lave dejlig vin.

James Rahn – Jubilee Vineyard Gamay Noir 2021
📍 Eola-Amity Hills, Oregon
🍇 100% Gamay
⚡️ 12,9%
💰 299 kr. / 279 kr. v. 6 stk hos @vinstouw

Dejligt glas fra en yderst spændende producent!

Oxford Uncorked 2026 🍷

As we catch our breath and reflect on another incredible Oxford Uncorked, one thing stands above everything else: gratitude.

To every guest who bought a ticket, every winery and importer who poured incredible wines, every chef and restaurant who shared their talents, every volunteer who gave their time, and everyone who simply showed up with a smile and a glass in hand—thank you.

What started as an idea has become something much bigger than a wine festival. It’s become a celebration of the people who make Mississippi’s wine community so special. Seeing hundreds of people gathering to discover new wines, meet producers, share conversations, and support local businesses reminds us exactly why we started this journey.

Every year we’re inspired by the enthusiasm and passion you bring, and it motivates us to keep raising the bar. We’re committed to continuing to grow this event, introduce more world-class wines to our state, and create experiences that connect people through great food, great wine, and great company.

From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for making the 2nd Annual Oxford Uncorked such a memorable day. We couldn’t do it without all of you.

Here’s to continuing to build something special together.

We’re excited to welcome James Rahn Wine Co. to the 2nd annual Oxford Uncorked Wine Festival this July!

James Rahn has become one of the most compelling voices coming out of Oregon’s Willamette Valley, crafting thoughtful, site-driven wines from organically farmed vineyards with a philosophy centered around balance, transparency, and pure drinkability. His wines lean low-alcohol, food-friendly, and are expressive of both vineyard and vintage — the kind of bottles that make you want to sit at the table a little longer.

James found his way into the wine world through restaurants and hospitality before eventually heading to Oregon, where he fell in love with the energy and authenticity of the Willamette Valley. What began as a deep curiosity about wine evolved into a passion for farming, fermentation, and crafting wines that reflect place without unnecessary manipulation.

If you love authentic producers, cool-climate wines, and winemakers who don’t take themselves too seriously while still making seriously delicious wine, you’re going to want to spend some time with James this year.

Join us July 11, 2026 at The Powerhouse for an unforgettable day of wine, conversation, and incredible guests from around the world. 🍷

𝑱𝒂𝒎𝒆𝒔 𝑹𝒂𝒉𝒏 - 𝑮𝒂𝒎𝒂𝒚 𝑵𝒐𝒊𝒓, 𝑱𝒖𝒃𝒊𝒍𝒆𝒆 𝑽𝒊𝒏𝒆𝒚𝒂𝒓𝒅 2021

Ad: This wine was kindly sent to me for review by @vinstouw
Thank you 🙏🏽

🍇 Gamay Noir
🗺️ Eola-Amity Hills, Oregon, US
Production: 409 cases

……….

Lovely nose with red berries, earth, wet wood and the slightest hint of VA.

Super clean, ripe but lean and pure fruit-driven palate with strawberries, pomegranate, currants, lemon, licorice root, grapes and some earthiness, stems and white pepper.

Medium+ acidity and low/medium- tannins - the acidity is lean and bright while the tannins grips more than I would expect, providing some structure so it’s not all juice, lending it a super crunchy backbone while the finish is slightly stemmy and peppery.

Vin libre with a bit of edgy structure - great stuff.

92/100

……….

In 2012, James and his wife moved to Portland, Oregon, where he trained with Luisa Ponzi at Ponzi Vineyards. A turning point came in 2013 when he set out to buy 227 kg of Riesling grapes from Brooks Winery but instead received 2.4 tons marking the start of James Rahn Wine Company.

His wines are rooted in Maresh Vineyard (planted in 1970, one of Oregon’s oldest) and RainSong Vineyard, planted mainly with Pinot Noir alongside Chardonnay and Pinot Meunier.

Rahn follows a minimal-intervention approach, using native fermentations and gentle handling to let the terroir speak. The wines reflect the cool climate of Willamette Valley, typically showing low alcohol, balance, and aging in neutral oak.

This cuvée is made from 100% Gamay Noir from Jubilee Vineyard. harvested in September, with an alcohol level of 12.9%, aged for 9 months in oak barrels, of which 2 of 16 are new.
