ADELAIDE DESIGN WEEK 2026 IS OPEN!

Celebrating community and connection, an exhibition of design in process, “short notice” asked some 50 designers to reconfigure the exhibit itself as works came and went throughout the evening. No labels, no prices, a group curation and celebration. A haphazard shape, with conversations in motion taking place.

Thank you to all the exhibitors! Listed on the ADW website shortly.

And a big thanks to @michaelkutschbach for your concept (short notice). And all of our box building volunteers! You know who you are!

At the heart of Flaminia, the open seafood counter becomes both stage and gathering place. A floating canopy frames the chef’s preparation area, bringing softness and rhythm to the intimate dining experience.

Some arrivals don’t knock.
They hum quietly in the background for a while…
then suddenly—everything shifts.

And now, somehow, it’s here.

Breathing. Watching. Holding the room in its own strange orbit.

Our dear friend and artistic mastermind James Brown has graced us with this hand-painted piece—
The Isle of Temu.

There’s something beautifully unsettling about it.
Playful, but not naive.
Loud, but somehow meditative.
Like it’s winking at you while asking a question you’re not quite ready to answer.

James works in that space between instinct and chaos—where colour becomes language and form dissolves into feeling. His pieces often sit somewhere between childlike immediacy and deeper subconscious tension… the kind you don’t intellectualise, just absorb.

We’ve always been drawn to artists who don’t over-explain themselves.
James is exactly that.

This one now lives with us, tucked between records, coffee, passing conversations and quiet moments.

Massive love to you brother for trusting us with something this special.

You can explore more of James’ world here:

Come spend some time with it in person.
It reveals itself slowly.

— always 🧡

We’re now accepting applications for In Residence - our student-focused studio initiative.

This is not your typical university placement. It’s not a replacement for your studies, and it’s not a job.

Instead, we offer a dedicated desk within our Brompton studio - a space to call your own while you complete your final year. You’ll sit alongside our team, join meetings, share ideas over coffee, and immerse yourself in the day-to-day rhythm of an architecture and interior design practice.

If you’re in your final year of Architecture or Interior Architecture, based in South Australia, and looking to enhance your design journey, we’d love to hear from you.

No portfolios.
No CVs.
No DMs.
Just words about you sent to hello@studio-gram.com.au

We look forward to reading them

Last month: offensively hot days, quiet yearning, good books, reflection, finding the perfect swag and Chiko rolls. Aaaah take me back.

Huge thank you to everyone who came through for our 10 year anniversary opening ⭐️ ‘Space Between Scenes’, a group show curated by @householdpresents is an exploration reality and suspended belief. With over 15 artists included in this exhibition, the gallery has transformed into a careful juncture of spectacle and everyday ritual..

The show will be running at Praxis Artspace from now until December 19th. Gallery open 11-4, Wed-Sat. ⭐️

Hark! What sights and sounds doth move our mind?
A war of style, sweet pastry close behind.
Verona’s tune through studio halls doth climb,
While Franks and Sottsass colour all in time.
This be what we’ve been loving through September’s prime.

ITL

The art and styling of this space was important to capture the post war era of Italy with mid-century modernist art. The dinning room feature piece commission by Metalsmith Christian Hall creates a dynamic sculpture that changes as you move through the space.

ITL

Design reflection.

ITL has an established poise about the space donning materials from a bygone era making the experience familiar, yet new. Laid with Venetian referenced Palladiana flooring, gloss stucco rendered walls, contrasted with walnut timber and minimal concrete form, the space is bound to have you saying something clever and cliched in Italian before you know it! …Ciao-Ciao!
