We did a thing! 😄🥬

And for once, “a thing” is putting it mildly.

This is the first system designed and built entirely by the Jacfruit team — from the ground up, by the people.

It’s a big one for us. It means we can build faster, test more, tweak things when we feel like it, and generally make our lives slightly more complicated in the name of better lettuce 🥬

BIG DOG on a LIGHT LEASH 🦮🎣

50lb leader got the job done on taming this monster from the deep. 9 times out of 10 you lose this fish on that leader, but sometimes things go your way and an absolute brut of a fish comes to the boat despite the odds that are stacked against you.

Big thanks to our friends @westcoastwake.mu helping us deliver the goods by getting over the top of this fish with @garmin 💪🙏

What a fish for the boys! Any guesses on the weight?

WORLD OCEAN DAY 🌍🌊⬇️

Some moments will stay with you forever and more often than not it is nature that provides these moments.

Cruising along, this pod of dolphins appeared at the bow, playfully enjoying the bow wake, when literally out of the blue one leapt from the water and cleared the bow in spectacular fashion. We will probably never witness anything like this again. This footage serves as a reminder of just how extraordinary our oceans - and the life they support - truly are.

Today is a celebration of the ocean that connects us all, regulates our climate, produces much of the oxygen we breathe, and provides a home for countless species beyond recognition. It’s also a reminder that protecting it is a responsibility we all share.

If healthy oceans can create moments like this, they’re worth fighting for.

What’s your process? ⚔️🐟

It’s so worth looking after your catch!
Even with the average gaff shot, we still make sure we bleed, dispatch and ice our fish when they come onboard.
This makes a massive difference to the quality of flesh and ease of filleting- especially when you’re based in a hot climate like Mauritius..

No brainer - sharp knives are also absolutely crucial.. @victorinox knives are a good place to start 💪

We also never rinse our fish with fresh water (EVER) - it is completely unnatural and damages the flesh.

DON’T KILL THE MOTION 🎣⬇️

Might be common knowledge to some, but you’d be surprised how often people pull the boat out of gear the second they hook up.

That’s a mistake.

By keeping the boat moving, your lures stay active in the water (@halcotackle laser pros are pretty deadly at 1 or 2 knots)- meaning you’re still fishing even while fighting a fish. That’s exactly how we turned a small bonito into a second hookup with a yellowfin.

But it’s not just about extra bites.

Forward motion keeps steady pressure on the line, which is especially important with smaller or more unpredictable pelagics like wahoo and dorado. It helps prevent slack, reduces thrown hooks, and keeps everything under control at the boat.

It also sets you up for a much cleaner gaff shot. The fish tracks more predictably in the boat’s movement instead of darting around while you’re stationary.

Tuna behave a bit differently once they go deep, but early in the fight - this still matters.

Keep the boat in gear. Stay ready.

Ever had a double like this?

We’ve ALL lost this fish… 😮‍💨

Be honest - are you even a fisherman if this hasn’t happened to you?

Hook into something ridiculous on the wrong setup… and spend the entire time just holding on, knowing it’s not ending well.

No look. No weight. Just trauma.

We’re saying tank Yellowfin with its DRS wide open in a non-DRS zone.
Absolutely smoked us.
