Goin’ Rogue!!

Rogue Gorge 50k - 2nd 50k in the books and 2/2 for the year. @daybreakracing put on an incredibly beautiful race and the vibes were HIGH. Stoked to have gotten to race with @scubaedwin and @npmagtoto. @enivedacinorev was the best crew chief and kept me fed, moving, and motivated. Big shoutout to @joy_rae, @avonr, and @devinamorales for the stoke and support and getting all 3 of us to the finish!!

Leg 3 of the autumn racing season was a swing and a miss.

I may be allergic to 50ks as I cramped around mile 13 and dropped at mile 17 of the race. I probably was running a bit too hard for the fatigue I was carrying after racing the previous two weekends but I couldn't miss out on a trip to the Oregon Coast.

This is an unbelievable race, 10k on the beach then 20 miles of amazing coastal trails, I will definitely be back for redemption if @daybreakracing will have me.

Year #5 at Perpetua Coast! Since this is my favorite place to run in Oregon, I’ll continue to come back year after year to race or volunteer.

📸 from the Perpetua Coast 10k

This past year I started increasing my running miles while training for my first marathon and 50k ultra… since then I keep signing up for races and the training just keeps on going! 😅

Out of 91 runners I came in 6th place and was 3rd place female. Feeling really stoked and accomplished with this race 😌🙂‍↕️

I. Did. It.

I don’t think I have trained for anything this hard in at least 15 years. Many weekends revolving around long runs, grocery shopping, planning routes, and trying to get enough sleep, all culminated to one final day.

I ran my own race always focused on getting past the cut off time but managed to pace a long line of people for a few miles.

Overall I had many many many highs, multiple hours just jamming to my music with @larry_julson close on my heels keeping me moving forward, but let’s not forget the tears shed around like 27 when I thought my feet would literally fall apart.

I finished as strong as I could and am supremely proud of myself and can’t thank @larry_julson enough for the support.

Thanks @alpine.running for a great race and @jamesholk and @larry_julson for photos. I literally had no time to apart for pics.

Here’s to another 50k once I get a bit faster and better at climbing.

For those of you who have been following my 10-Year Adventure, I am thrilled to share that we raised more than $21,000 for people battling colon cancer and completed our @alpine.running 50k in Sisters, Oregon!

I have done a lot of really cool things in my life, but this has, by far, been the most rewarding experience. I truly could not imagine a better way to celebrate 10 years cancer-free. This journey is also for those who are no longer here to celebrate with us. This was for them, too.

A huge amount of love and gratitude to a few of my favorite dudes who helped make this day so special: my husband, Ryan Ballman, Brandon Sherman, and Bill Geneczko, it meant the world having these guys a part of this day. Thank you to everyone who donated and everyone who planned an adventure day. There’s nothing we can’t do.

And lastly, if you’re 45 or older, get a colonoscopy!

Still reflecting on the Sisters Skyline 50k race. It's weird, sooooo much training went into prepping for it. And now it's just done 😐
•
Many days, after work, just not wanting to go out for a run. But i sucked it up, laced up the shoes, and headed out the door.
•
So many weekend days that I didn't want to do 18 or more miles, lost in music and/or my own head. I wanted to sleep in. But instead, I was out there solo, suffering. And believe me, there was much suffering.
•
Walking sections that I should have been able to run. Running out of food and snacks. Running out of or having to ration water. Feeling sick/under the weather. But still out there, grinding.
•
I'm not a runner. It's hard, and not an enjoyable kind of difficult for me. It's type 3 "fun" for me. But this race and this effort are things that I committed to, and I had to see it through.
•
All that effort ahead of time meant I could just be in the moment on race day. Somehow, @jamesholk captured that on the trail. Based on his photos, it almost looks like I'm enjoying it 😮
•
Almost...
•
Thanks to @alpine.running for the great event, though! Those volunteers at the aid stations were amazing. Big shout-out to aid station 3 for having ice cold Coca-Cola, it got me through the last 6 miles 😎

This year, my summer training meant taking a break from the metronomic pacing of the roads, and leaning into the novelty of trail racing… safe to say I’ve caught the trail racing bug 🐛

Hi! I'm running 1000 miles in 4 months to get TOOL's attention and see if they'll perform 'Lateralus' live again (preferably at Aftershock this year). Please consider following me and forwarding to TOOL! If this works, we may just go where no one's been since 2014.

Big ups to @alpine.running
