Just 53 days until the 53rd Annual @themayorsxmasparade right here in Hampden and Medfield! So many ways to support the parade, including as a volunteer, participant, and/or as a donor/sponsor.

Not sure where you fit in? Ask me! I'll help you find the right opportunity to "be a part of the MAGIC!" This beloved Baltimore tradition only exists because of amazing folks like *you* and our community. Thank you!

♻️ We’re Making It Easier to Get Your Trash & Recycling Cans!

Good news, Baltimore! We’ve made several improvements to help residents get the trash and recycling cans they need.

🚛 Trucks Ready for Delivery: We have the equipment needed to deliver cans to residents.
📦 Cans in Stock: Trash and recycling cans are available and ready for delivery.

📲 One Simplified Service Request: We combined our trash and recycling can request into one streamlined Service Request (SR), called City Trash Can and Recycling Can Issue, making it easier for residents to report an issue or request a replacement. Our turnaround time is 10 business days.

✅ Zero Overdue Requests! As of October 8, 2026, we have zero overdue can-related Service Requests.

We’re continuing to improve the process to make it faster, simpler, and more responsive to the needs of Baltimore residents.

This work will take me all over the 40th District, but sometimes the work has to start right at your own front door.

I appreciate Councilman @jamestorrencejd for working alongside the Matthew Henson Neighborhood Association to organize our Eastwood Community Walk. After September’s fire, neighbors came together to identify hotspots and areas where we need greater support from our city agencies and law enforcement.

And they answered the call including our own Western District @baltimorepolicedepartment Major Preston.

Seeing 25 people walking block after block together was a powerful sight. This is what it looks like when people show up, identify the problems and work toward solutions.

I’m looking forward to many more walks like this across our communities.

💧 Update on Baltimore’s Water Supply (10/7/2026). DPW has activated the Deer Creek Pump Station to draw water from the Susquehanna River and supplement the City’s reservoirs during the ongoing drought.

Please note: Susquehanna River water has NOT reached residents’ homes yet. ☝️ The water will travel to the Montebello Water Treatment Plants, where it will be treated, tested, and gradually blended with reservoir water.

Baltimore is NOT switching to 100% Susquehanna River water. DPW will continue its rigorous treatment and testing processes to ensure water meets drinking-water standards.

Minor changes in taste or odor are possible, but not expected.

🚰 Voluntary water restrictions remain in effect. Please continue conserving water as drought conditions persist.

Every drop counts. 💙

✨ Coming Soon to Charles Street: A Brighter, More Welcoming Corridor!

We’re excited to share plans for new café-style lighting along Charles Street as part of our continued efforts to create a more vibrant, welcoming, and attractive commercial corridor in the Charles Village Community Benefits District.

The proposed overhead lighting will add warmth and character to the streetscape, enhance the pedestrian experience after dark, and help create a stronger sense of place for residents, businesses, students, and visitors.

💡 These improvements are about more than lighting. They’re part of our broader commitment to investing in our commercial corridors and public spaces—supporting local businesses, encouraging pedestrian activity, and making Charles Street an even better place to shop, dine, explore, and connect.

The image shown is a conceptual rendering of what the café lighting could look like once installed.

✨ More improvements are on the way. Stay tuned as we continue working to make our district cleaner, safer, and more vibrant!
