We are so proud to share that one of Temple Contemporary’s DREAM DIFFERENT contributing artists James Rojas is a @tedx_official speaker! Check out his talk “How would you design your dream city?” now available today globally at the link: 🔗 https://go.ted.com/jamesrojas

The description @tedx_official: “Urban planner James Rojas has led hundreds of workshops where participants creatively design their ideal communities with small objects — and he’s noticed that people of every age, income and background build strikingly similar places. Through play and storytelling, he shows how we can use our childhood memories and imaginations to shape the places we live and love.”

It has been a busy two weeks for the Moreno campaign team! It has been great to meet neighbors supporting our priorities for a livable and affordable future in Norwalk 🙌

Thank you all who joined us for last weekend’s Fundraiser & Community Night! It’s nights like these that remind us of the importance of people power, as it took all kinds of help to put together. Thank you to local band @losdelincuenteselmonte for their amazing music, and to our many volunteers who provided us an event space and managed different activities 🎵🫶

It was also empowering to see families envisioning a safe and active Norwalk through hands-on play and toys at our Design Your City Meet & Greet. Thank you to @jamestrojas
for inspiring the activity with his Place It! approach towards urban planning, and local business @cafepalestina.usa for providing us their space ☕

And it was great to be back at my alma mater for Norwalk High School’s Candidates Meet & Greet! It was amazing to meet civically engaged youth who wanted to see positive change in their community; thank you @nhs_gov_club for the invitation! 🤝

LA was good to me. Maybe too good? I got to work out of the LA studio, and now I want to move there? Not anytime soon, though. I got to see James Rojas again, someone I admire, author of many great articles, including The Birth of Gay Urbanism in 1970s West Hollywood and How the Civil Rights Movement Shaped Latino Urbanism in East L.A. I got to see the famous failed developer project, lol. It looks cooler this way, if you ask me. Also saw Peter Zumthor's new project, of course, I stopped to hate on Pedro Reyes' sculpture. Thankful to celebrate our achievements together; on to the next goal.

Excited to share that I’ll be moderating Student Day at the APA California Conference! 🎉

Join us for a hands-on Place It workshop, “Building Spatial Memories,” with James Rojas, founder of Place It and co-author of Dream Play Build. We’ll explore multisensory community engagement through touch, play, storytelling, and memory, and see how planning can go beyond data to connect with people’s lived experiences.

Two sessions, lots of building, and it’s FREE for all students! 🙌

Come ready to create, share, and rethink how we engage our communities. Can’t wait to see you there! ✨

Last night was a two-year dream come true. ✨💭 🥲🖼️🧱🤹🏽‍♂️🌈✨

I’m so grateful to the team I get to lead at who believed in my vision for designing and curating these eclectic brilliant artists to create an ambitious, gentle environment capable of inspiring play, rest, connection, and dreaming in both embattled artists and everyday people of all ages.

I think the public felt it. Because we SOLD OUT opening night…on a Tuesday at that! DREAM DIFFERENT will be hosting this wonder rebellion until December but stay tuned for more activations.

I must also thank my art hubby for holding my hand during these hard times. Back to back 12 hour days. Calls during vacation. Rough ideas that you helped make smooth over. Love you @malcolmkenyatta ❤️‍🔥

More later on how you can join our whimsical frolicking and carrying on!
