You know Route 66. But do you know the Tulsan who helped make it happen? 👀

Paid partnership with @averykitchenandbar | We’re hitting the Mother Road with @jameswaynejr to uncover the story of Cyrus Avery and the vision that helped put Tulsa on the map, literally!

In the 1920s, Avery championed a highway connecting Chicago to Los Angeles that would pass through Tulsa, connecting communities across the country.

His impact can still be seen across Tulsa today. The Avery Kitchen & Bar features a menu inspired by cuisine from cities along the historic highway, while Gathering Place’s Centennial art installations celebrate its history and culture.

Route 66 is celebrating its 100th anniversary, and Tulsa has quite the story to tell! Did you know this piece of history? 🚗✨

A moment straight out of a dream, a question that changed our lives, and a love story entering its next chapter. 🤍💍

Every detail was intentional, every moment filled with love, and every memory we’ll carry with us forever.

What started as a vision became a moment we’ll never forget. Grateful for the people who helped bring it all together and made this chapter of our love story so special.

Here’s to forever, to choosing each other every day, and to a lifetime of love, laughter, and memories yet to come. 🥂❤️

The truth is, even after years of speaking in front of people, I still sometimes wonder if what I have to share will be enough.

But I've been learning something about myself lately.

The things that have always come naturally to me...connecting with people, finding joy in the moment, genuinely caring and sharing stories that might encourage someone else are actually gifts. I just never thought to call them that. ✨✨✨

Yesterday, when I had the opportunity to speak on a panel...I decided to lean into those things instead of questioning whether I had enough to offer.

I shared stories, a little perspective and hopefully something someone needed to hear.

Thank you @jameswaynejr for this incredible opportunity. Also, thank you for seeing me and maybe seeing something in me I didn't fully see in myself. I did it and now realize I have so much I want to share.

You created such a beautiful and intentional event. You my friend, are truly a gift. Keep showing up, shinning and creating opportunities for us to all grow together. Incredible job to you and your team @blackwoodtulsa !!👏🏾💗

And to the other panelist @carlishawb @jordan.mcnear and @iamdardis WOW!! What an honor to be in conversation with you and everyone in that room. I throughly enjoyed it, learned so much and I can't wait to connect again. ✨✨✨✨

And if @djaliveonarrival is there ...it's going to be a GOOD time!

Here's what I hope people always remember... just because I'm sitting on a panel doesn't mean I have life all figured out. I see pieces of myself in the people I'm speaking to.

We're all human. We're all learning. And we're all figuring this thing called life out together. 🙏🏾

Thank you so much to @chinhdoan, @_chatitup and @thejasminfoster for your support!🙏🏾💗

Yesterday was a REMINDER of what happens when you put the right people in the right room! 🔥

The conversations were REAL. The gems were DROPPED. And the impact went far beyond that stage!

One thing about us, we don’t just want to create events. We want to create spaces where people feel seen, challenged, inspired, and leave knowing they have something valuable to contribute to this world.

Huge thank you to @carlishawb , @miaflemingtv , @iamdardis , and @jordan.mcnear for not just showing up, but POURING into the room! And to everyone who came, listened, laughed, connected, and contributed, THANK YOU!

This is why we do the work. This is why we build community. This is BLACKWOOD.

Because sometimes the opportunity you’re praying for starts with the room you’re willing to walk into.🌹

And trust me, we’re just getting started!
