Richland Library has great people, immaculate vibes and there are trees growing inside the library! I’m still taking it all in 🌳 📚

I fell in love with the library workers- the people. The team who held my lecture did it with so much care. They were generous and deeply supportive in a way you can feel.

They even have a social work department made up of Black women. That alone meant everything to me.

I was also moved by how the community was treated especially folks experiencing homelessness. There was dignity, respect, and real care in every interaction I witnessed.

And the detail that took me out? They painted little libraries in the colors of my book 🥹

My heart is full.

Long live libraries! Happy National Library Week!

My veeerrryyy first Book Festival far surpassed any expectation I could have ever had.

My cheeks hurt from smiling so much! I got to hear from two of my favorite authors AND I got multiple of my books signed. 🎉Met some new bookish friends & dilly dallied with a couple familiar bibliophiles.

@readfreelyfest is literally ONE FOR THE BOOKS! My heart is full! 🫶🏽

Happy first day of March! It’s officially @readfreelyfest month!! 📚

This year’s festival will take place March 27-29 at @richlandlibrary, and I could not be more excited. Y’all already know I had the best time at last year’s festival. It was such a special experience, and I’ve been counting down ever since.

A couple Fridays ago, I came home to the sweetest box of goodies from the festival team to help me prep and get even more hype for this year’s event. And let me tell you, they snapped with this year’s author lineup!

I’m really looking forward to all the thoughtful discussions and being in community with other readers. If you’re local, I would love to see you there. Did I mention it’s completely free??

💐👩🏾‍🦰✍🏾📚 This week, I had the chance to attend An Evening with Terah Shelton Harris and Lunch and Lit with Sadeqa Johnson, respectively celebrating the releases of Where the Wildflowers Grow and Keeper of Lost Children. I love both of these authors, so having their events back-to-back was really special.

It’s always a treat to hear authors talk about the inspiration, research, and process of writing their books. Many thanks to @bam_columbia.sc and @mjudsonbooks for hosting two amazing events.

And if you’re in Columbia or willing to take a trip, Sadeqa will be here for @readfreelyfest at @richlandlibrary at the end of March!

🩷✨🌷My first author event!! And for it to be with my favorite author, Sadeqa Johnson, was so so special. Anytime I get to hear the behind the scenes of an author’s writing process my mind is blown and I’m in awe of their creativity and talents.

AND I got to meet Jamie, Hannah and Elle Jay!!🥹🩷 Just the best to be able to hug them and meet internet book friends in person!

Thanks @mjudsonbooks for a special event!!

After the busiest fall ever, I swore I didn’t want to do much for my birthday. But of course, me being me (and my family knowing me), I still ended up at a museum, a couple restaurants, and Columbia’s new food hall. On the flip side, I also had some quiet time to read a book (with a Sagittarius main character! ♐️) and finally build my Lego Hibiscus set which is also very me.

I’m grateful for that balance. I’m grateful for the birthday wishes. I’m grateful for my loved ones. And I’m grateful for another day to wake up and keep trying to do good.

Here’s to 35!! 🎉

Some books stay with you long after the last page, and these are too good to keep tucked away on Bookstagram.

Honey & Spice was a standout for me in 2022, so I’d been eagerly awaiting Sweet Heat. It did not disappoint. Easily one of my top reads of this year. I just love Kiki and Malakai. 🥰 #ForeverFaves 💕

I can’t wait to see what Bolu writes next!
