This beach scene is one of my favorite images I took in NC many years ago; running down at sunrise to catch the colors. So I used it in my experiment of several mediums in one painting. I was inspired by @jammysevenk who is an extremely talented Australian creative force in multiple disciplines. I found my painting to not be showing definitive change in mediums, but an experiment it was and I continued onward. Not sure I accomplished anything but it was a good time. Sky- gouache to watercolor; ocean water NeoColors 2, and sand Pablo Pencils. A mixed media smorgasbord 👍🏻 #mixedmedia #beachscape #experiment #sunrise #indianbeachnc

Some artworks shout for your attention.
Others quietly pull you in.

The One is a group exhibition centred around that feeling — the moment a work connects. The piece you keep returning to. The one that lingers long after you’ve left the gallery.

Featuring a diverse collection of works from multiple artists, this exhibition invites viewers to slow down, look again, and trust instinct over explanation.

No rules. No “right” choice. Just connection.

Showing now until June 14 at Gallery Unbound
Opening Night: Friday May 29, 6–8pm

Maybe your piece is waiting for you.

Introducing Nick Vardaxis @jammysevenk for The One.

Melbourne-based artist Nicholas Vardaxis brings a richly layered creative background to his practice, spanning art, photography, music composition, writing, and academia. After a long career in science and research — including completing a PhD in Pathology at the University of Melbourne — Nick turned his focus more deeply toward the arts and creative exploration.

His multidisciplinary approach reflects a lifelong curiosity about the world, blending observation, imagination, and lived experience across mediums. Thoughtful and reflective, Nick’s work sits naturally within The One — an exhibition centred on connection, resonance, and the artworks that continue to linger in the mind.

Sometimes the magic isn’t a spell at all — it’s the quiet moment before everything shift. ✨
Eve finds her peace in the unexpected…
And Danny finds her strength in simple, earthly beauty
Both learning — in their own ways — that wonder is everywhere if you’re willing to look up. 🌙💫
