Sure thing! 😄
Here’s a classic fun fact about In the Heights:

Lin-Manuel Miranda actually started writing In the Heights when he was just a sophomore at Wesleyan University. It began as a college project and was first performed at the student theater in 1999. Miranda was inspired to create a musical that reflected the Latinx community he grew up in, specifically Washington Heights in New York City—which hadn’t really been represented in musical theater before.

Even more impressive? He wrote the original version of the opening number, “In the Heights,” during a college vacation—in just one week! Over the next several years, he worked with collaborators to develop and refine the show until it finally opened on Broadway in 2008, where it went on to win 4 Tony Awards, including Best Musical.

From dorm room idea to Broadway sensation—pretty incredible, right?
