What a weekend for the books! 📚🌲

I’m so thankful for @bantambooks for inviting me to a reading retreat weekend in the woods. It was such a unique and fun experience and yes… I even got a little bit of reading done. From crafts to hanging by the fire to recording silly videos, this weekend truly had a bit of everything ✨ I did come with 14 new books and I am not mad at it 😅

After attending numerous book events in the past year, I’ve noticed a common theme— readers are nervous af to go.

Most times, you’re going alone, and you’re lucky if you’ve met a few people through bookstagram or booktok.

And heading into a social situation with so many unknown variables? I don’t care how outgoing you are, it’s absolutely terrifying to take on all by yourself.

But another common theme I’ve noticed? Readers are truly some of the kindest, most inclusive people on the planet. At @booksgownsandcrowns, @kaylsmoon said “reading teaches empathy” and I can’t think of a truer statement. Sure, as with ANY niche and community, there are bad eggs. But overall, the book community is unmatched in their ability to be a friend.

And don’t even get me started on how fun + silly they are 😉

So if you’re afraid to say yes to the book convention or trip, try and remember that everyone else is probably just as nervous as you. Because as humans, we all just want to be seen + loved as we are 🫶🏼

Thank you @bantambooks @randomhouse @penguinrandomhouse for such an amazing weekend + for creating a safe space for readers to connect😭♥️ I am beyond grateful to have had this experience with so many wonderful humans!
