I made a lot of artwork in the early 2000s with Joseph Phillips and Shea Little under the name SODALITAS. These were some of our first pieces made in 2002. During that time we used heavy angled steel to frame everything we made. These pieces lived with my parents traveling from one coast to the other and now they’re back here in Austin. They need a new home to reside in. They are beasts! Message me if interested.

@icosa_art is excited to announce Terra Firmament, Part 2: Matt Rebholz and Jana Swec

Exhibition Dates: August 19 – September 17, 2022
Opening Reception: Friday, August 19, 7-10 pm

Terra Firmament, Part 2 reunites Matt Rebholz and Jana Swec for a continuation of their exhibition from Sept 2021. The title is a portmanteau of the Latin terra firma, meaning solid earth, and the English firmament, referring to the vault of the heavens.
The artists channel their personal histories into emotionally charged landscapes, steeped in narrative and individual mythology. Both create contemporary paintings that meditate on the liminal spaces between Earth and Sky, Mind and Body.

very proud to have acted as curatorial advisor on behalf of the late daniel johnston and his surviving family for his first ever solo museum exhibit and to have loaned electric lady’s entire collection to the show. today, on what would have been daniel’s 61st birthday, we are cutting the ribbon on this massive new mural in downtown austin, which was commissioned by the city’s museum of contemporary art and paid for in-part by vans and no comply. inside the museum are over 400 original drawings and ephemera items from daniel’s archive. the exhibit lasts through march 20th. ⁣swipe >>>

thank you dick johnston, donny veloz, don goede, dexter tesch and the team. thank you, robin, for your dedication to this project.

Have you had a chance to visit Arturo Herrera’s 𝙒𝙖𝙡𝙡 𝙥𝙖𝙞𝙣𝙩𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙛𝙤𝙧 𝘼𝙪𝙨𝙩𝙞𝙣 at #WaterlooPark? 🎨😯

👀 Swipe for a closer look at the 6,587 sq. ft. mural located on the Waller Creek Tunnel Inlet Facility at 500 E 12th St.

ℹ️ Using animated, abstract biomorphic shapes and lines within a blue and white color scheme, Herrera’s mural echoes the movement of the complex flow of water inside the Waller Creek Tunnel, as well as the vitality and essence of Waterloo Park in an urban environment.
