Parsons Communication Design is thrilled to announce the 2024 Offset Art Book Fair, hosted in partnership with Draw Down Books. The first edition will take place Saturday, October 26, 2024, at Parsons School of Design in New York City.

Offset Art Book Fair offers a space for current students of The New School and recent alumni– who have graduated in the past 5 years– to gather, trade, and share their printed work. The event will be prefaced by a keynote lecture on Friday, October 25 by Kathleen and Chris Sleboda, founders of Draw Down Books.

The Fair facilitates the exhibition and vending of posters, prints, zines, books, and other print ephemera, with the effort of highlighting and supporting independent publishing & zine-making culture. We encourage current Parsons students and recent graduates to apply.

Applicants are encouraged to submit a body of work, newer preferred, and, with intentionality, share short-form written responses regarding their interest in participating and their artistic backgrounds. In reviewing applications, we will consider a variety of factors in order to expand representation, prioritizing work by artists that highlight BIPOC, queer, and feminist approaches to printmaking in design, interdisciplinarity. To learn more about participating in Offset Art Book Fair – including qualification, exhibitor expectations, and our mission – we advise potential applicants to review our exhibitor guidelines. This summer, as an extension of our in-person Warm Up program, we’re happy to bring you our ✨Undergrad Student IG Spotlights!✨

We are inviting any current undergrad design student or recent graduate in New York City, NY and NJ design programs to showcase their design projects.

Our goal is to provide undergraduate design students a platform to introduce their work to the AIGA NY community, and to give our audiences an opportunity to see new and emerging talent across design programs in local schools.

This week, we're presenting The Feminine American Pastime from @parsons_cd BFA graduate, Janet Delavan @janetdelavan is a multidisciplinary designer specializing in editorial design and branding. With experience as a print and bookbinding tutor at Parsons and as a creative director for The New School Free Press, she aims to create authentic and empathetic design systems that can resonate with diverse audiences.

The Feminine American Pastime series demonstrates the evolving landscape of gender roles and societal perceptions through an exploration of leisure and labor. The series examines the daunting prospect of competing in a traditionally known “man’s game” as equals yet highlighting the undervalued skills known as “women’s work.”

👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏

If you are a current undergrad design student or recent graduate in New York City, NY and NJ design program and are interested in submitting your project, 🔗 in bio!
