🌄BALLOCH CAVE🌄

At 57.3km into the 65 and 100km races sits the magical and mythical place called Balloch. Nestled in a lush, verdant valley and surrounded by magnificently imposing rock formations, it is just one of the many incredible places on the SkyRun route that adds to the absolute epicness of the race.

It is the first place on the route where runners can see their seconds and provides a cocoon of sorts, some may even say a virtual hug, to all the weary bodies that pass through here on their mammoth, mountain adventure.

But don’t be seduced by its warmth and embrace, you still have to carry on your journey and tackle the infamous Wall from here, so don’t get too comfortable however tempting it may be.

There is so much to look forward to on your journey of discovery when you tackle SkyRun, and we can’t wait to share it all with you come race weekend.

📣OUR NEW PRESENTING SPONSOR📣

As we hit the two months to go countdown, we are delighted to reveal that we have a new presenting sponsor for SkyRun 2026! Our new partners are Fynbos Money, an investment platform that is making waves in the fintech space.

Co-founder and CEO Adrian Hope-Bailie had this to say about the new partnership: “SkyRun has been going for thirty years, which tells you something about what endurance really looks like. We are a South African company backing a South African race that celebrates the long game. It is the same mindset we believe in when it comes to growing your money.”

We look forward to having Fynbos Money on board and know that their support will help to elevate each and every runners experience at SkyRun.

⛰️THE WITTEBERG⛰️

Where sky meets mountains, the Witteberg sits quietly along Lesotho’s south-western edge, a fold of ancient rock that rises, layer after layer, inviting those who dare to immerse themselves in this vast landscape. SkyRun finds its home here, and to run the Witteberg is to surrender comfort and the ease of manicured, marked pathways, and to trust instead in your own reading of the land, with the help of your GPS, to lean in to the adventure.

Ridgelines that blur into cloud, valleys that hold their silence long after the sound of your feet and breath have moved through them. There’s something almost sacred about the peaks, the ridgelines, the valleys, and the rock they’re built on. A soul space, the journey a kind of communion — with exhaustion, with solitude, with a landscape that doesn’t care whether you make it through the night, it just exists. No roaring crowds wait at the checkpoints, just wind, and rock, and the strange, humbling feeling of being very small in the vastness of the wilderness. It’s less a race than a pilgrimage, different but the same for each and every runner who gets to the finish line to call themselves a SkyRunner.

This is SkyRun.✊🏽

💥THE START LINE💥

The journey starts here, months of training and sacrifice in the pursuit of a dream, a ridge line a feeling of accomplishment. Hearts beat louder here, emotions run high. Shoulder to shoulder a common goal unites each and every runner, the call of a true mountain adventure.

There is no other start line like it, and once you know, you know. Heed the call. One hell of a run starts here!✊🏽

THE ALLURE OF SKYRUN🤩

What draws people to SkyRun? What is the “pull” all about?

We caught up with one of our affiliate coaches and seasoned SkyRunners, Pierre Jordaan of Mountain Abandon, to get his take on the allure of SkyRun, and where his relationship with SkyRun first started. We think he sums it up pretty perfectly.👌🏽
