Briefly reading through #DeadTrees Vol.2 as I start ramping up some pre-Halloween spamming of social media and I forgot how much I gush about sequels we had and, frustratingly, sequels we should have had. Namely #DogSoldiers and its excellent companion book #SausagesTheMakingOfDogSoldiers which I still highly recommend. I only recently discovered the author, @janinepipe28 also wrote a similar companion book for another @neilmarshall_director great #TheDescent
I shall never stop wishing for a DogSoldiers2. It is one of my greatest wishes. And world peace obviously.

The Descent 4K UHD & Blu Ray @studiocanaluk

The Descent follows six women who embark on a remote spelunking expedition in the Appalachian Mountains. Shortly after descending, a collapse traps them in an unmapped cave system. As supplies dwindle, they discover the caverns are hunted by blind, flesh-eating humanoid creatures, forcing them into a desperate, claustrophobic fight for survival.

There aren’t many movies that I find particularly scary or that keep me on the edge of my seat, but when I first saw The Descent in the cinema, this one succeeded.
We have an all-round perfect cast who deliver some incredible performances, especially from our lead, Shauna MacDonald. It also helps that the characters are extremely likeable, making you root for them when things take a dark turn. The movie’s tension is relentless, creating a sense of dread that never lets up. The claustrophobic setting of the cave heightens the psychological horror to almost unbearable levels.
There are no cheap CGI creatures here—everything is practical, and the costumes for the Crawlers look incredible!
One of the strongest aspects of the movie is its ability to keep you engaged. It’s a film that deals with trauma, friendship, loss and, of course, survival.
This new 4K release from Lionsgate is an almost flawless presentation. The picture looks absolutely stunning, with rich and vivid colours. Where it really shines is in the caves, where the majority of the movie takes place. Black levels are inky deep, and shadow detail is handled perfectly. Images are incredibly sharp, allowing you to see even the smallest of details.
The audio on the UK release features a 5.1 track, whereas the US release includes a DTS 7.1 track. Although the 5.1 mix sounds fantastic and delivers an immersive and engaging experience, I still would have appreciated a 7.1 track.
This release also comes with an abundance of special features, making it an incredible package.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
The Descent is available in the uk June 29th

🚨ALERT‼️ Art of Action is proud to announce it’s teaming up with filmmaker @janinepipe28 for her next short film.

From an original script by @jadeyduffield , THE LAST WORD is a short sharp punch to the gut, and maybe a bullet to the head: literally the last word in break-ups!

Janine has launched a Kickstarter campaign to raise a bit of cash to make sure she can pay her crew, as you can only beg so many favours when you’re starting out. So if you can possibly help out then please do chip in! ✨🫶

Either follow the link in bio or go via Janine’s page. Anything to help will be most gratefully received thanks!! 🙏

Amazing time working as gaffer on "State 11", directed by the amazing @janinepipe28 over the weekend. 🎬

Insane amount of work done by cast and crew over the two very long days! This film couldn't have been achieved without everyone there. Can't wait to see the final thing! 🎥
