📣 North Carolina A&T is making moves on the recruiting trail. The Aggies have secured a commitment from Janiyah Weaver (@janiyahweaver12), a 6-foot-6 wing from Morrow, Georgia, who is ranked No. 69 in ESPN’s Top 100 for the class of 2027 and holds a four-star rating. 💙💛🏀

Weaver chose the Aggies over several programs, including St. John’s, Alabama, Delaware, UCF and Bethune-Cookman. Landing a nationally ranked prospect with that level of interest is a big recruiting win for North Carolina A&T and another exciting development for HBCU women’s basketball.

Congratulations to Janiyah on this next chapter, and shoutout to her family, coaches and support system for helping her along the way. We wish her nothing but success as she continues her academic and basketball journey.

Aggie Nation, make sure you show her some love and get behind her. Y’all have some excitement on the way! 👏🏾

PROFILER-X | PLAYER UPDATE
JANIYAH WEAVER — NORTH CAROLINA A&T

Janiyah Weaver’s reported commitment to North Carolina A&T gives the Aggies a Class of 2027 addition from Morrow High School in Ellenwood, Georgia. The supplied announcement lists Weaver as a 6’6” wing/forward, placing positional development at the center of her next chapter.

The basketball question is how that listed size translates into a dependable college role. Length can create opportunities, but impact will depend on movement, timing, positioning, and decisions within possessions. Her upcoming high school season offers an opportunity to establish those habits through sustained competitive minutes.

For Weaver, the most valuable next steps are practical: finish efficiently, pursue rebounds outside her area, establish useful screening angles, and make decisions when receiving the ball. Defensive development should emphasize positioning, disciplined contests, and completing possessions. These are evaluation priorities, rather than confirmed descriptions of her current game.

Her wing/forward designation also makes perimeter responsibility an important follow-up. Film should clarify where she operates offensively, which matchups she handles, and how comfortably she moves between interior and perimeter assignments.

The commitment establishes a reported destination. Weaver’s next chapter is about building the skills, consistency, and habits that can support a defined role when she arrives at North Carolina A&T for college.
