A once-worn staircase is now a burst of color 🎨 Last week, WHEDco joined community members, merchants, and partners to unveil "Tropical Passage" — a new mural on the West 168th Street Step Street in Highbridge-Concourse. Shaped by community input, it celebrates the neighborhood's African, Caribbean, and Latino heritage and turns an everyday walk into something worth stopping for. Made possible through a NYC Department of Small Business Services @nycsmallbiz Merchant Organizing Grant, in partnership with @nyc_dotart's Art Partners Initiative, @highbridgeconcoursebx, and @yucaarts, with lead artist Nancy Mendez. Thank you @bronxtimes for the feature! "There was a clear call for youth voices at the table, not just to receive solutions, but to help create them." – Marjorie Parker, CEO and President of @JobsFirstNYC. As we celebrate ten years of the 𝘈𝘥𝘢𝘱𝘵𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘵𝘰 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘍𝘶𝘵𝘶𝘳𝘦 𝘰𝘧 𝘞𝘰𝘳𝘬 convening, we are reminded that real change happens when young people are not only heard, but are trusted to lead. Our signature two-day event is one of New York City's most anticipated—bringing together young adults, workforce leaders, educators, funders, and policymakers to reflect, reimagine, and take action.⁣ ⁣ July 30 is exclusively curated for young adults, centering their voices, ideas, and innovation.⁣ July 31 is designed for workforce development leaders, educators, funders, and policymakers committed to building a more equitable future of work.⁣ ⁣ Let’s keep building local solutions with lasting impact. ⁣ 🔗 Visit our events page to learn more and get involved. ⁣ #adaptingtothefutureofwork #JobsFirstNYC #NYC #wkdev #youngadults #youth #innovation
