Miss Caroline’s House
42 x 46in
Woodcut Relief and Screenprint on Muslin, Machine and Hand-sewn Quilt

Started this quilt during my time at @penlandschool winter residency this January -finished in March. I have always been such a fan of quilt-making as a medium and used my time to teach myself and implement it into my practice. Could not be happier with my very first quilt!

Im currently in the process of moving out of this house that has been my home for the past 3 years. This work is in honor of Miss Caroline, the home owner, who passed around the time that I finished this print.

Launching the Annex: SYNERGY
We are inaugurating this new space with SYNERGY, a collaborative exhibition curated by Emi Noelle Douglas, built around a simple, generative premise: pair artists together and see what emerges when two distinct visions meet on the same canvas, in the same room, in conversation with one another.

Featured collaborative pairings:

Ivy Wu & Jeffrey Wilcox Paclipan

Jason Swift & Jamele Wright Sr.

Lowkey & Jon John

Jamaal Barber & Dane Brown

Daisy Anne Dickson & Anne Harper

Lauren Lesley & Sadie Pennell

Trevvian Dowell & Abigail Tucker

Chloe Alexander & Jasmin Warnock

Stan Clark & Claude Gerard Jean

Mia Anika & Emmy Marshall

Demetri Burke & Christa Collins

Nancy Blum & Elliston Roshi

Luke Hamilton & Daisy Anne Dickson

With additional work from:

Daniel Phelps, Cy Herdee, Bryan Bach, Heather Deyling, Jess Self, John Roberts, Larry Jens Anderson, Greg Noblin, Kiara Gilbert, and Krista Grecco.

Together, these artists bring painting, sculpture, mixed media, and beyond into dialogue — a fitting inaugural show for a space founded on the idea that art is stronger in collaboration.

This is a celebration eighteen years in the making — of the artists who trusted us, the collectors who believed in them, and the community that made Atlanta a destination for serious contemporary art. Now, we invite you into the next room.

This one plays with more abstracted ideas of home and how class impacts the levels of instability in those spaces.

Last month, I had the opportunity to have my first gallery solo show!

“Uprooted is a personal printmaking exhibition reflecting on memory, place, and identity. Drawing from my upbringing in Mississippi and lived experiences across the South, I use images of past homes, magnolias, and natural environments to trace how childhood spaces shape who you become. Through woodcut, linocut, monoprint, and screenprinting the work considers, belonging, displacement, and the lasting influence of the places we come from.”

Grateful to @cherokeecoartsnc @woodmusings and @rachelalanawatson for allowing me the opportunity to share my work and paint all over the walls. Thank you for my sister and her support both in the work and dealing with my driving coming down to NC. Also grateful to my roomies for showing up and showing out per usual.

Uprooted was a chance to put together the work I had so far. Im not quite done with these subjects but I look forward to seeing how they evolve.
