My daily meditation is “As Within, So Without; As Above, So Below.” The first piece of that saying, I love, because it helps me find an equilibrium and stay there. It’s like breath work in stress and chaos — a way to slow down the energy internally just enough so that I can make out what’s happening externally and control my responses to it. It allows for distancing. Space. Constructiveness.

The eye in the midst of the storm.

The second part I’ve been struggling with. Because the below part — this Earth/humanity part — is feeling real fucked up. Dense and heavy; an inability to hear any level of resonance in cacophony and disharmony.

Emotion isn’t something I’m inherently comfortable in, but depth is. So as the Without shifts, I breathe it in…and I go back Within, taking with me the observations, voices, understandings, needs, feelings, all the external I can hold, into my heart space.

And then, after sitting in my own silence and darkness, breathe it back Without; changed and morphed into something that reflects the core of me. Refusing to just let the Without shut me down. Refusing to just let the Without get stuck in my body, in my lymph nodes, in my mind.

Trusting that maybe this world actually needs a little bit more of me, right now. Healing and storytelling and loving and discovery and beauty and art and words — all still have a place.

The world needs a little bit more of you, too. You, underneath the fear. The confusion. The frustration. The worry. The concern. The illusion.

You.

Miami it’s been real! ✌🏿Work hard + play harder. Just got back from a week of #miamibasel, it’s 20th anniversary. I often forgot to take photos, but here are a few when I remembered, or when others snapped one during the festivities. 📸
